I am planning on getting married next year and while we are definitely doing Jordan almonds just for the traditional aspect, I want to also give out candy or chocolate as well. I do not think that we can afford to do a candy buffet as that was my original idea, so what else can I do? I would love to give out Hershey's kisses and Jelly Beans (or some other kind of candy for those that don't like chocolate). Any suggestions would be very helpful.
Our wedding colors are eggplant, lilac, and silver if that helps any.
Chocolate Wedding Favors?
Actually, I don't think a candy buffet would be terribly expensive. I am planning on doing one for my wedding in March. I'd get some cellophane baggies at Michaels, and then some simple ribbon, and then have everyone fill up their own bags. You can look into Sam's or Costco for very inexpensive candy options. I know you can get a 5lb bag of gummi bears for I think $8. Get maybe 6 options, and you're looking for about $200ish - way cheaper than personalized gifts for each person. And think about it, not everyone will want to use the candy station, so that will also save money.
I know I've seen a few sites where you get ribbon with you name and date on them...cute idea!
Reply:I think alot of people like M%26amp;M's so if you go to this site http://us.mms.com/us/store/index.jsp you can custom make M%26amp;M's for your guest saying things like JUST MARRIED or your names on the M%26amp;M's and you can also pick the colors you want
Reply:I would do Hersheys kisses and eggplant and lilac colored jelly beans. Another idea is to do a custom M%26amp;M mix in your colors it could be really cool.
Reply:A good candy to give out at a wedding is either sweethearts (the ones in the shape of a heart with little messages on them)
Or cinnimon hearts
;) Hope I helpped!
Oh, and if it isn't until next summer you can get both of those pretty inexpencive right (RIGHT) after valentines day, and you can also get chocolate hearts wrapped in foil paper ;)
Reply:You can get M%26amp;M's with your names %26amp; date written on them and in customized colors.
Reply:http://www.mymms.com/customprint/index.a...
this is pretty cool have them in wine glasses or vases as a centerpiece and guests can pick at them instead of having more favors to worry about, you have your chocolate and centerpieces in one with out having to worry about leftover centerpieces
Reply:where r u located, im in nyc? are you interested in hiring me to make your wedding favors? i am a do-it-yourself kind of gal and wish to get good referrals.
Reply:Go to you local candy store and see what they have to offer. I'm doing chocolate and they cost me a .25 per piece and they will be wrapped and set on the guest plates. You can also go to places like Wal-Mart or your local grocery store and get monogram cookies done for cheap.
Reply:you can make little bags for the candies by wrapping in colored cellophane or netting and tying with ribbon to match your colors. You can also buy wraps with your names and the date on them for the little hershey miniatures. You can do a chocolate fountain with a variety of fruits cut up, or chocolate covered strawberries(many bakeries can do these in the shape of a bride and groom with dress and tux) you can also make small chocolates by using molds that come in a variety of shapes. Congrats.
Reply:for your chocolate loving guests you can custom order M%26amp;Ms with your wedding colors and even your initials stamped on them. For those non-chocoholics, try some elegant wedding mints. You can find places that customize those as well.
Reply:M%26amp;M's lets you personalize the messages, and Hershey's lets you replace the wrapper from "HERSHEY'S" to "HERETHEYARE" and the then the name of the Bride and Groom below. They're great. Go to their websites for more info.
Good Luck.

Food tests....plz urgent?
why does protein give off a purplish - lilac precipitate when KOH is added to it? does it have any relation to its bonds and type of bonding? ...if so plz elaborate....
Food tests....plz urgent?
Under alkaline conditions substances containing two or more peptide bonds form a purple complex with copper salts in the reagent.
Sorry I can't be more specific, this is all I know.

Carpet colour?
I'd do grey, tan or offwhite.
Reply:Get something with a pattern on it, like leopard print. It that's not your style, try a more neutral color like light beige to make a more feminine room.
Reply:get a neutral color, like white or light beige. pbteen has good ones and so does sears.

How should i decorate my room ?
Ok Im 12 years old and my mums doing my room up. I dont know how to have it. I have currently got lilac wallpaper with pink %26amp;%26amp; silver hearts on it but its getting boring old and mouldy. I dont know what to have. Paint or wallpaper what colours any ideas or any sites ?
How should i decorate my room ?
Wallpaper is generally hard ( and a pain ) to remove! If possible and smooth enough go ahead and paint over it. I think lime ( light ) green and pale blues are calming and can go with anything! On hgtv there are all kinds of tv shows that show room makeovers for girls your age....there is a purple and blue themed room on hgtv.com that I absolutely love. Check it out!! Do It Yourself Inexpensive options are always there, but they take time! Good luck!
Reply:Go with your likes, hobbies, and favorite colors
Reply:definately paint...wall paper sucks. pick a theme that you like. if you like sports do a sports theme something like that.
Reply:wallpaper and paint sometimes peel off and if you paint it looks good but takes time and wallpaper looks good but you wont have the fun od doing it and you wouldnt be able to brag to your friends
Reply:great, cheap, and easy decorating ideas on freewebs.com/octobersissues
leave any and all questions on the guest book and I'll try my best to help! ;p

Halloween makeup and hair help?
Of the fairies I've seen in magazines- the hair is usually pretty wild (maybe ratted?) For make-up, you should check out faces on wig packages, or even magazines. Natural would probably be the way to go-either pale or dark, according to your natural skin tone
Reply:Do purple eye shadow and put your hair in a bun adn put flower pins in it.
Reply:I would use some hair product to keep the curls in your hair.
For some hair ideas, I would suggest they way they did Padme's hair in Star Wars Revenge of the Sith, in her funeral outfit. Her hair was out, all in curls with lots of small white flowers and some curling ribbon.
Here is a link: http://www.padawansguide.com/padme3/wate...
for the makeup, I would do your own version of the makeup they do for Cirque du Soleil. Their makeup is always fabulous. I loved the makeup for the Caterpillar/Butterfly in Varekai:
http://cirquetribune.com/gallery/display...
Reply:ok, first of all, a fairy's hair is supposed to look 'messy' because they don't have hairbrushes. (atleast according to popular human beleif.) So when you are about to get ready, wash your hair, then just pick on it. DON'T BRUSH IT OUT. Then, if you want to know how to put on eyeliner, Pull your eye so it's a little stretched out. Then, apply one fine line of eyeliner with a sharpened eye pencil. For eyeshadow, Use the darker shade form your eyelashes to your eye crease, then use the lighter one from the crease to the eybrow bone.

A long time ago - long before you and I were even born - there was a little Old Lady who lived in a shoe. This little Old Lady was a little cranky, but she had BIG cause ... she had SOOOO many children, she didn't know what to do!! Nobody even knew who the father of these children was, although it was whispered that he was QUITE possibly the Old Man who lived on the other side of the world.
The little Old Lady was SO bitterly poor, so she had to work day in and day out in the fields, as well as tend to the harvest outside her home. Everyday the little Old Lady walked about 20 miles to town, as well, in order to sell what she had harvested. All this was to feed herself, as WELL as her little children. After a few years, the little Old Lady's body had become SOOOOO worn down and weary that she could hardly walk. One day the little Old Lady came in from the fields, and swooned across a cot ... where she remained ALL ... THAT ... NIGHT!! She couldn't walk, she couldn't cook, she couldn't even go to market the next morning!! At this point the little Old Lady's eldest son - who was ALso her favorite - approached her:
"Mother," he felt her head. "You're ill"!!
"Yes," she answered, her voice BAREly above a whisper. With that, she tried to push herself up.
"No, Mother," insisted Jack ... for THAT was his name, Jack. "I will take over for you. I'LL cook, I'LL clean ... AND I'll go to market for you"!!
So, Jack took over the chores for his younger brothers and sisters from then on. For the next few weeks, Jack cooked. For the next few weeks, Jack cleaned ... and, for the NEXT few weeks, Jack went to market. He tended to his mother, as well; but after a while, it was CLEAR that the little Old Lady was not getting better fast!! In fact ... she was getting WORSE!! All the rest of the children stopped dancing. They stopped playing, and they stopped merrymaking. Their faces grew long ... and longer ... AND longer ... Eventually, they started taking over some of the chores and duties around the shoe-house.
One day Jill - Jack's twin sister - hurried up to Jack while he was in the fields:
"Jack, Jack ... our mother's near death!! You MUST go, Jack"!!
"Where"?!
"To the NORTH SIDE of NOWHERE, to the FARAWAY LAND of ILLUSIA ... where the flowers grow strong and tall, AND where life never ends".
"But, WHY?! To WHAT END"?!
"It's come to me in a dream ... There a great spring flows between two willowy trees, in the midst of a garden. At the edge of the garden, there sits three flasks ... the first one is golden, the second one is silver, and the third one is copper. Do not even LOOK at the first two, but grab the copper one!! Do NOT delay, do NOT look back ... but go STRAIGHT to that spring and fill it up!! Return straightway, and bring the flask to our mother ... this is from the Water Of Life".
"I will return straightway"!! Jack threw down the scythe he was holding, and raced to the barn to grab his faithful horse. He saddled up, and started out. Jill called after him.
"Jack, be nimble ... Jack be quick ... Jack, come back to us safe, licketty-split"!!
So Jack rode hard and swift, for days and days ... through rain, through sunshine, through wind and through heat; he never stopped. By the third day, he was bone-tired and exhausted!! When he came upon a deep forest, he fell off his horse, and had drifted into a DEEP sleep before he'd even hit the ground!! That night he slept hard, but he didn't sleep peacefully. He dreamt that the little Old Lady was calling out, miserably, to him. He awoke the next morning with a start; the sun was shining brightly on his face.
Within a few minutes he was on his way again. By that afternoon, Jack had reached the edge of the forests. And, there he saw a great garden looming up before him. He walked a few paces, and THERE he saw the three flasks. The golden flask called out to him; however, he passed it up. The silver flask SCREAMED out to him ... he passed that up also, until he came to the copper flask. It just sat there. He reached out and scooped it up.
As he walked forward inTO the garden, the aroma of lilacs assaulted him. A few steps later, he heard a songbird; the SWEETest sound he'd ever heard. He paused, and almost turned around to listen. However, Jill's words rang in his mind: Do NOT delay, do NOT look back ... but go STRAIGHT to the spring and fill it up!! He straightened up and continued forward. About an hour later, in the midst of the garden, (right in the HEART of the garden), he heard a faint, familiar voice ... that grew stronger and stronger. He raced forward, quicker. At the other edge of the garden, he SPOTTED it!! Two tall, willowy trees, with a beautiful spring flowing between them!! Right before he reached the trees, the voice assaulted him:
"Jack ... Jack, my boy"!!
"Mother"?! He almost turned around. However, his faithful horse sprinted forward, determined not to stop!! At the spring, Jack filled up the flask; then he jumped back on his faithful horse, and they were off again!! The voice kept following him, more and MORE urgently, until they'd almost reached the other end. Almost into the forests, the voice changed!! Jack heard a loud, THUMP THUMP!!! He turned around on his faithful horse ... just in time to see an OLD HAG plummeting after them!!!
"JACK, BOY ... COME GIVE YOUR DEAR OLD MAMA A KISS"!!
In GREAT fear, he turned back around, almost dropping the flask, spilling half of the water!!
They raced through the woods, never stopping ... it took about a day and a half to reach home again!! The children ran up, happily, to greet their brother; Jack went imMEDIately to their mother. Her face was hollow, cowslip yellow, and dripped great beads of perspiration ... and she was moaning and groaning in pain. Jack pulled the flask from out of his pocket and pressed it to his mother's lips. With the first sip, her eyes opened!! Jill used part of the water to prepare an herbal tea; with the first sip of the herbal tea, the little Old Lady smiled; with the SECond sip, she sat up!! And, with the final draw, she stood on her own!! With the rest of the magical water, Jill prepared an herbal tea for all of them!! And with the FINAL DROPS of water, Jack sprinkled them over their mother's feet and, PRESTO!! Her legs grew YOUNG and STRONG once again ... and she danced around the shoe-house, singing ... and singing ... and singing!!
That VERy night, the copper flask filled with LITTLE GOLDEN PEARLS ... and that ALways replenished itself!!!
And they all lived HAPPILY EVER AFTER!!!

I'd been trudging through the green forest for a while, and so I was [3] weary, just completely without [6] energy. From somewhere nearby, I could hear the trill of a [10] songbird, and a floral scent, reminiscent of a [8] lilac in bloom, perfumed the air. It was a warm summer day.
I put down my bindle, thinking I'd just rest a moment... but, no sooner had I dropped my head onto the bindle, [1] presto! I was far, [2] faraway, in dreamland.
"Wake up, Emu," a voice came to me softly, in a [4] whisper. I opened my eyes. Oh my goodness! It was Mother Goose herself, with a snow-white gander on a short leash. She was slender, almost [5] willowy, despite her age.
I wasn't in the forest any more... I was in a place surrounded by the folk of nursery rhymes! [7] Thump thump, went the pendulum of the grandfather clock, with a mouse running up inside the case. Off in the distance, I could see Bo Peep looking for lost lambs, and old King Cole was holding court. The crescent moon was up, and... yes, there was a tiny far off cow jumping over it!
As Jack and Jill came rolling past, Jack pushed his bucket into my hands. It contained [9] herbal tea.
My left foot was itching, so I pulled off my shoe... revealing a miniscule old woman and a score or so of tiny children!
A little dog was pointing and laughing at me, while a cat played fiddle for King Cole... but I knew things were getting strange when I saw a dish running away with a spoon!
From somewhere nearby, a sparrow was saying "I, with my little bow and arrow."
An egg fell onto my head... and I awoke, back in the forest again, but with this strange rhyme running through my mind:
Humpty Dumpty sat on the wall
Humpty Dumpty two inches tall!
He fell off the wall, and cracked his shell.
Poor little egg, I wish him well.
Reply:Not too long ago in a not so FARAWAY land, there lived a WILLOWY, dark-haired Pretty Princess. She loved to sit in the LILAC garden of her palace (which was really just a 20-room home with a turret) each morning as she sipped her HERBAL TEA. This special ginseng and lemon tea, which came highly recommended by her yoga instructor and tai chi master, gave her the ENERGY she needed to perform her duties as the Pretty Princess each day (those duties being unknown to most people in the household and of which there never was any evidence to behold).
One particulary lovely morning, as the sun shone down warming her, the tiny SONGBIRD who had left for the winter returned (though the Pretty Princess knew it was a brief return as the weather had its spell of a few typical warm days this time of year which would only be followed by extreme cold once again). The little bird would entertain her in her peaceful garden with a melodious tune, the likes of which had never be heard elsewhere. As the sweet Pretty Princess, who was really just a spoiled rich kid whose dad called her "my Pretty Princess," sat there enjoying the peace and the song, she suddenly heard, "THUMP THUMP." It rather annoyed her. Then it came again -- "THUMP THUMP." She was really annoyed this time. "THUMP THUMP" and finally she looked up and saw her current Prince approaching with a wide grin on his face. Irked and WEARY from his noisy, lumbering approach, she kissed him on the forehead and WHISPERED "Frog" in his ear. PRESTO! As he hopped away, she smiled and once again went back to her tea, the peacefulness, and the song.
Moral of the Story: Don't walk in without calling first or ringing the doorbell (because even a Frog Prince doesn't want to be changed into a princely frog by the Pretty Princess).

HOw should I redecorate my room?
My room is a lilac color. I love the colors pink and purple. My room is sooo clumped because i have so much furniture. How do i make my room more spaced and make it preety, but colorful, spaced, and, organized.
HOw should I redecorate my room?
Try installing some space saving racks in your closet to optimize the space in your room. For actual decorating tips visit the D.I.Y. section of my website

Reply:im the same way so you say your room is clumped well if you have a desk make it smaller if you have a dresser make it skinnier and thinner but if it is short and wide try fitting it in your closet place your bed so its not in a corner put it likethis:(below)
and with 2night stands then place every thing else ont he opposit wall and if it all dont fit there r to other walls

Reply:Sounds like you really need to get rid of some furniture. Sell the desk and bookshelf and what ever else and get a space saver unit that will hold the same stuff and take up less space. Simple is better, less is more, ya know?
Reply:I'd suggest going to the book store when you have a free moment. Big chains like Barnes and Nobel and Borders always have sitting places for looking through materials. Check out different magazines and books to get a feel for your style and think about a plan. Look in the back of magazines for the section where they list the stores to buy featured products from. My favorite mag, Real Simple, is great about giving orgainizing and decorating tips that are affordable and reasonable to accomplish alone. They even have books out that focus on making space and organization. Once you look at enough stuff, you'll start to learn your preferances and new techniques for decorating and making space. If you live near and IKEA, check out their store for great inexpesive pieces that are streamlined and useful. Good luck!!

Wedding theme options?
We are getting married in August at a light house...one very special to us (Pemaquid Point in Maine if anyone wants to look it up)... We are using roses for our flowers, our colors are Victorian Lilac and Silver. So many details are already worked out but I am wondering still how to decorate the reception. I think we are just going to use lots of candles and rose petals, but IF we decided to do a 'theme' what type of theme could we use? Any option/ideas?
Wedding theme options?
don't do a theme
keep it simple with the candle's and rose petals and keep the colors throughtout the whole wedding.
put a disposable camera on each table too so everyone can take picture!
Reply:Skip the theme. What you've got planned sounds lovely. Just use your colors and flowers as the "Theme" and plan around them. Personally, I think theme weddings can get a bit cheesy and literal.
Good luck and bast wishes.
Reply:You could do an elegant beach theme. Lots of shells and sand. And you can make candle centerpieces with them. Make sure you only use real petals around the candles since they are nonflammable and silks will go up in flames.
Reply:Aaahhh!! Fellow Mainer! Im getting married in Old Orchard Beach. Ohh, the light house sounds romantic!! :)
Since we're getting married outside I don't feel we'll need a lot of crazy decorations, so our "theme" is Maine. For favors we're giving Salt Water Taffy and our buffet dinner is full of traditional Maine dishes. I bought a bunch of candles and fake flower petals on ebay and Im going to use rocks from the beach/rivers to decoate the tables. I'm a pretty simple girl, so a few pretty lights and flowers do it for me! Check out Minott's in Portland, they have some really cool pics on their website for decorating. Of course you dont have to use them, but it's an idea. Email me if you wanna chat! :) Good luck and congrats!
Reply:I would use lots of white flowing fabrics draped above the reception area and also around the Terrace where you will be married to reflect the sails that the light house has watched over and also mimics the the water how it flows. It would be so beautiful if you did incoperate white lite fabric all throughout. Congrats!!
Reply:I don't think you need to do a theme, but if you do, you might stick with the whole lighthouse/ocean idea.
Reply:Beach
Reply:If you are getting married at a light house deffinately stick with the aquatic (sun, sand, etc) it is a perfect tie in really.
Reply:BEACH- SHELLS AND SAND
Reply:Go with a beach or sea-side theme. Decorate the table with candles and sea-shells. Put a sea shell at each place setting.
Or you could even go with a light house theme. Many places online sell light house stuff (it was super popular a few years back) and I am sure you could find some miniature light houses as a place setting/favor. Maybe you could find a lighthouse that acts as a candle holder for the centerpiece!?
Or you could do what I did when I got married in June I had a fishbowl as the centerpiece and put in glass beads (lavender and silver to go with my colors) and a beta. People thought I was nuts when I told them about it, but I will tell you something...there wasn't but 3 or 4 fish left for us after the wedding (out of 25). So, everyone enjoyed them enough to take them home! :)
Just do whatever you like and think is the best! It's all about the two of you that day!
Reply:Avoid the theme. I looked up pictures of the lighthouse and it's so beautiful. I think having a theme would take away from that. Something so historic and classic can stand for itself.
Reply:Unless you are having the reception at the lighthouse use any theme that you desire. If you are having the reception at the lighthouse why not go with a lighthouse theme? It is not traditional as far as I know, but it would definitely be original.
Reply:Hi and congratulations!
I love the lighthouses in Maine! My husband and I visited Maine on our 25th anniversary....but we didn't go to that one!
Anyway, I agree with the others....don't do a theme. I think it's more elegant and beautiful with the rose petals and candles. That is simple and very elegant. If you add in little lighthouses or something like that then it takes away from the simplicity and beauty of the rose petals and candles....which, to me, is very romantic.
Good luck!
Reply:Do a Victorian/Back in the day theme that would be BEAUTIFUL!! Good Luck! I"m getting married in May!
Reply:Do a marriage theme.
What you have set up sounds beautiful and I think you would take away from it if you add a theme.
Reply:I think a twilight them might be cute considering that is when lighthouses turn on and the sky is kind of a light purple color. You could use stars. I think the candles sound pretty too.
Reply:Why not lighthouses, or a lighting them???
Reply:Use the same theme as your highschool prom, Stairway To Heaven is a "can't miss"

What colors would be cute for a wedding ??
I am having a reception when my hubby comes home from Iraq , we didnt get to have one last year because he deployed. What colors do you think is cute ?? Black %26amp; white , clover ( green ) , lilac, or pink ?
What colors would be cute for a wedding ??
I think the black and white is nice, very elegant and you can do a lot with it. Also, with the black and white you can throw in an accent color like the green.
Reply:lilac or pink......with black.....no......black and lilac!! that would be so cute!!! or lilac and white...
Reply:Depends on which season you're holding it. Black and white is more on the formal side. Pink is too girly girl. I love lilac, very romantic and not so overly feminine.
Reply:Where is the wedding? Outdoor or indoor? Evening or daytime?
I am partial to pink in small doses (as another mentioned it can be too girly girly). Ive seen some cute invitations that were black and pink. Just for example:
http://www.mygatsby.com/product.jsp?Prod...
If you choose green, make it an earthy tone like sage and you can use cream to accent.
Reply:Ok, NO GUY wants a lilac and pink wedding. NONE. Come on, he's a soldier for Pete's sake (bangs head on keyboard).
My colors are dark purple, ivory, and gold (with some dark brown accents thrown in...the HTB's favorite color).
Go with a bold color (black, burgandy, purple, red, dark blue), follow with a soft color (cream, ivory, white) and add sparkle with some metallic (gold, silver).
Good luck...stay away from the girlie colors!
Reply:Green would be great...is clover green similar to sage green? It looks great in any season! The black and white would be too bold! Good Luck in choosing the best color!

Wedding Ideas?
My wedding isn't planned until 6/7/2008 so I'm just beginning to brainstorm some ideas but I'm having a really hard time deciding how I incorporate the color lilac into the men's tuxedos or what other color might look good.. any ideas? Thanks!
Wedding Ideas?
The flowers. Use the color in the boutonnieres.
Reply:when it comes to flowers, espcially ones of such a light color, you can have them wear the color in flower in their boutineer, or even have them wear a vest in the same color. Having that color match other things isn't always hard just making sure it will look ok is hard,
have fun and good luck and congrats.
Reply:I would ask your fiance about that since the guys are his area. Sometimes, simple black is best. Or maybe simply a lilac colored boutonniere. Also, it will make him feel included in the planning.
Reply:lilac and sage or a dark green would look nice together...you could also do lilac and different shades of blue or even brown. You can have the girls in lilac and the guys in the other color, but I would incorporate the lilac in the guys flowers to tie it all together.
Good luck!
Reply:Try vests for the men with a hint of lilac in the pattern. You could also have the flowers be lilacs (or a similarly colored floral design), so all of the men would be wearing them on their lapels.. I would avoid the ties being that color as it is a little fussy..go with simple black and just have subtle hints of it in the vest.
Lovely color btw.
Reply:Have the groomsmen wear lilac bowties and cummerbunds. At my wedding each of the guys were in each of these colors - yellow, pink, lilac, and teal, with grey tuxes.
Reply:my wedding is 6/16/2008 and i'm doing green and purple.
green for the bridesmaid dresses and groomsmen vest %26amp; tie. then purple for the flowers and other accept colors.
but you could do the guys in green (or yellow, or other color you like with lilac) then the girls in lilac.
or just have the guys in lilac it's not as bad as pink and should be ok as just vests and ties
Reply:Their ties can be lilac...the vest...their boutineer (flower).
You can be happy that the color has been incorporated and it will still look masculine.
Reply:it would look good as the cumberbun (sp) or vest.....or a really dark purple would look great too; go to a tuxedo place and check out your options.....have fun and don't let yourself get stressed......enjoy it
Reply:Lilac-colored ties are an easy solution that won't look too feminine on a man. You may even find striped ties so the color will be even less overwhelming. Another solution would be to have the men wear boutonniers that match the lilac in the bridesmaids' dresses while wearing another color tie.
Depending on the shade, a very muted sage green could coordinate with lilac, or you could just go with a couple different shades of the same color family - like a more blue-toned purple or periwinkle along with the lilac.
Reply:lilac boutonnieres, although traditionally they would be red or white. i say use lilac and white flowers in the bridesmaids' bouquets; then you can use white boutonnieres. or if your bouquet is red and white, you can use red boutonnieres.
you could also get the lilac cumberbund for the guys to wear, but if that creates an issue, you could forego it.
honestly, it's really up to you what you do because it's your day, but make sure whoever you get to do your flowers has some sense of fashion/design. best of luck.

Was I wrong or was she acting like a "bridezilla"?
One of my guy friends recently got married, and I was in attendance. I chose to wear a lilac purple sleeveless dress that went down to the knee. Since it was sleeveless, I decided to be a little tasteful, and wear a purple jacket. I wasn't even wearing white (not even my underclothing for what its worth)! Once I got to congratulate the bride and groom, she proceeded to tell me that I needed to change clothes before the reception because I was wearing the same color as the bridesmaids!!! I thought that she was a little out of line by saying this to me.
Like I had previously said, I am friends with the groom, not the bride. And I always thought that it was a no-no to wear white to a wedding. I didn't think that wearing the same color as the bridesmaids would make any difference since I didn't know beforehand.
Please let me know if I had actually committed a fashion faux pas or if she was out of line for asking me to change clothes before the reception.
Was I wrong or was she acting like a "bridezilla"?
I won't pretend to know the exact etiquette guidelines of the color of dress issue; however, if you had no idea of the wedding colors, you aren't expected to be psychic in determining that.
It was the bride that was out of line in this situation, IMHO, because though it is "her day," it is also her duty to put all guests at ease and she not only didn't put you at ease, she ordered you, for all purposes and intents, to leave and not come back until properly attired.
Definitely a bridezilla!
Reply:She is out of line. If there was a problem, the maid of honour should be the one to say something. Also, the maid of honour should specify what is to be worn (if anything in particular must be avoided) IN THE INVITATIONS. It was not brought to your attention beforehand, so you did nothing wrong and actually were being polite by dressing conservatively.
Reply:Tell her to go screw herself. She was being rude.
Reply:How were you suppose to know what they were wearing, I think that was very rude, she was out of line!

Reply:BRIDEZILLA!!!!!! What a snit! How could you know what the freaking bridesmaids are wearing? And you brought how many dresses to change into for the wedding??? 1 oh yeah, you are normal! What a snit! Hope you didn't spend too much on the wedding gift, bought the groom to be a lap dance at the bacholer party, and spent the reception at the champagne fountian on her dime!!
Reply:The faux pas was created by the bride. How were you to know the color of her bridesmaids dresses? Instead she should have laughed it off and complimented you on your color choice.
Reply:what a weirdo. lavender is NOT reserved if its a bridesmades dress. And to boot the color probably looked better on u and what were u supposed to change into your bra and panties? what a Bridezilla!

I live in chicago and wanted to know if anyone knows when lilacs bloom here. Concerned that mine haven't?
They don't even have buds on them- I have had then three summers now, they do seem quite tall, but no flowers. Last year they had a few flowers, I believe in early april. Does anyone know why it hasn't flowered?
I live in chicago and wanted to know if anyone knows when lilacs bloom here. Concerned that mine haven't?
Is it planted in a shady area? Lilacs don't like shade.
Reply:You should call someone at Lombard city hall. Lombard makes a big deal about lilacs. They have a park name Lilacia Park.

Reply:I don't live in Chicago but I was there two weeks ago and I can tell you, it is too early in the season and way too cold. Wait a couple of weeks and look for the buds to pop on your bushes, the flowers will come along shortly. And while you are waiting for spring, visit the Shed Aquarium where it is summer all year long.
Reply:Live near midway airport. Our Lilac is loaded with blossoms but they didn't open yet.
Did you do any trimming after the bloom last year? That could be a problem.

I'm looking fro suggestions for some sweet swelling flowers, besides lilacs?
I'm also looking for the name of a flower that smells sweet. It is a smal flower, it is either white or yellow, but it smells beautiful. any ideas?
Thanks
I'm looking fro suggestions for some sweet swelling flowers, besides lilacs?
I believe the yellow flower you are describing is jasmine - carolina jasmine. There is a white variety called star jasmine or confederate jasmine. Gardenias and magnolias also smell nice and of course there are several wonderful smelling roses. Good Luck!
Reply:Roses
Peonys (but with them plant them far from the house because ants that open them can come into the house,)
Forsythia
Jasmine
Or go wild at your local Nursery (Not home depot or Lowes) A real Nursery where all they do is plants.
Reply:Jasmine comes in white or yellow. Freesias come in white or yellow, and other colors. Both of these smell wonderful. Also hyacinths have a very sweet aroma.
Reply:lily of the valley
orange blossom bush
English roses
most peony's
honeysuckle
Reply:I second peonys and honeysuckle. Both fine fresh clean smells.

Does anyone have any natural tips or suggestions on maintaining beautiful lilacs?
Yes you need to prune the blooms off in the summer after they are brown as Lilacs bloom on new growth and this will insure a full beautiful lush bush.Otherwise they will grow and only bloom at the top of the tree.

Has anyone ever gotten a rash from trimming lots of Caraganas, lilacs, and elder shrubs?
I have a rash that started on my arm, I just figured I cut them, then noticed later small red bumps all over my chest and stomach as well. They don't itch, but are bumpy and just barely getting better. I have had this for a week. Will go to the doctor soon if it doesn't get any better.
This ever happen to anyone?
Thanks.
Has anyone ever gotten a rash from trimming lots of Caraganas, lilacs, and elder shrubs?
You could have an allergy to these sorts of flowers/plants. For instance, my ex-sister-in-law was deathly allergic to lilacs and could not even be around the scent of them, even in perfumes, etc. As for myself, I loved the scent of flowers, perfumes, etc.(and even gasoline, believe it or not. LOL) until about 1985 when I went out to get our mail and got a noseful of pine pollen from the trees in our front yard. I had a migraine (I guess you could class it that) headache that lasted 36 solid hours and NOTHING I took would end it (just had to run its course), and ever since then I cannot be around certain flowers, perfumes, some shampoos, hair spray, certain cleaning products, etc. without plugging up and my eyes watering, and getting a headache.
Another cause could be if you changed the brand of bath soap, deodorant, or laundry detergent you are using. Either way, I would definitely see a doctor. Allergies can be dangerous if not found or recognized in time (I almost died from an allergic reaction to a medication that I had taken just the month before with no problems).
Reply:Am glad to see I was of some help. :) I just had another thought of what may have caused the rash---did you use any kind of bug spray, plant food , etc. on them that you hadn't used before? Report It
Reply:you ae kiddind , right. this is the year of allergies.

What kind of fertilizer are you supposed to use on Lilacs??
i need an answer quickly...... :/
i hope u can help mee
What kind of fertilizer are you supposed to use on Lilacs??
Lilacs really prefer a poor soil. If you fertilize, you risk encouraging leaf growth over flowering. If you must, use a 5-10-10.
Reply:Also add Bone Meal for blooms for next year. Just sprinkle some down under the entire weep line(Extension of the branches) of the lilac.

What causes brown spots on the leaves of my lilacs?
The leaves start out healthy and green, but now have lots of little brown spots, then turn yellow and fall off.
What causes brown spots on the leaves of my lilacs?
Your lilacs are suffering from Bacterial Blight (pseudomonas syringae). You'll need to spray your lilacs with a fungicide to control this damaging bacterial disease. The best on the market, one that I have used for over 20 yrs, is a product made by "Ortho" called "multi-purpose fungicide" which contains "Daconil" 2787. This fungicide controls over 130 different diseases on trees, shrub, and lawns. It can be easily purchased in the garden centers of Walmart, Home Depot, or Lowes. Follow the directions on the mixing rate which is easy to follow. This fungicide will only control any "further" infection and will "not" reverse the leaf spotting already done. Here is a link with the product info... Hope this answers your question.

When is the best time to prune and transplant lilacs?
I found this for you, at http://www.gardenersnet.com/. It seems like a really good site on gardening.
On lilacs, specifically: http://www.gardenersnet.com/lilac.htm
On pruning, specifically: http://www.gardenersnet.com/lilac/lilac0...
This page says:
"There are right and wrong ways to prune a lilac bush. There is also a right and a wrong time. Most importantly, prune or trim back your bush immediately after they are done blooming. Make sure to remove the spent bloom with your clippers. This will keep the plant from growing seeds and encourage creation of next year's buds. Next year's flower bud develops early, even though you may not see it....By the way, we do not recommend using hedge trimmers. It gives a too trimmed appearance. Lilacs are not hedges."
On transplanting and propagating, specifically: http://www.gardenersnet.com/lilac/lilac0...
This page says this:
"Like all transplants, the survival rate is higher if transplanted in cooler weather. Keep the soil around your transplant moist, but not water-logged."
When is the best time to prune and transplant lilacs?
6:45 pm.
Reply:yesterday, early spring/late fall
Reply:In the Fall.
Reply:Prune lilac...as with any spring blooming shrub or tree...just after it finishes blooming. If you prune in fall, you will prune off buds for following spring flower.
Transplanting, however, should be done in fall.It will have a better chance of establishing over winter and spring, than in hot summer.

How do I transplant buckeye trees, grape vines, and lilacs from existing trees in my yard?
With the possible exception of the grape vine, if they are really big you might not be able to, at least not with out some sort of heavy equipment. If they are not huge just dig a big enough hole to get a good portion of the root system and then move them to the new spot. The first few months they will probably need extra water but other than that if you get enough of the roots they will be fine.

HELP with July wedding flowers & colors!?
I am getting married next July. We have just picked our venue, it will be an outdoor ceremony %26amp; tented reception. There is no real theme yet. I wanted one of my colors to be like a lilac or periwinkle - but I learned that lilac is not in bloom in July.
Can anyone recommend any other flowers close in color? What about an actual THEME or another color to compliment?
I have no idea what I am doing!
HELP with July wedding flowers %26amp; colors!?
very bright, vibrant and summery colors bloom in July, such as the lotus. Pinks, purples, reds and oranges would be ideal for your wedding. :)
Reply:could do red, white and blue for a 'theme'. Do whatever colors you like! Congrats! :) :) :)
Reply:Check out flower options here
http://theknot.com/keywords/sc_150_527.s...
And no theme is necessary. "Wedding" is theme enough.
If you need another color, why not white? Lilac and white? Or periwinkle and white?
Dress the bridesmaids in periwinkle, and have the little flower girl in all white.
Picture groomsmen in something like this with periwinkle vests and ties.
http://www.tuxedoavenue.com/vest/vestdet...
This site does have the periwinkle available.
Your groom could wear the same tux with white vest and white tie.
Just some suggestions.
Reply:Hydrangeas are in bloom in July and you can get them in gorgeous shades of blue/purple:

Reply:i got married last june and had all roses including red, hot pink, yellow, and orange....the bouquets were beautiful!
Reply:you can use orchids, freesias, lisianthus
or how about Lupine and yellow lillies or sunflowers.
yellow is a complimentary color to purple/lavendar
you can have your bridesmaids wear lilac with yellow accessories or even put half the girls in yellow and the other half in lilac.
you can get clematis plants with purple flowers and have the vines cover the four corners of the tent. get some petunias in lilac and plant them in pretty pots and they could be used for center pieces on the tables - you could even put candles in the center.

I have a Ivory Wedding Dress What Color Tux should my Fiance Wear?
I have a ivory wedding gown with and champaing bow on it from Davids Bridal #T9395 and I don't know if my fiance should go with a Black Tux with ivory vest and a champainge tie or what? Also My Colors are Light Pink and Lilac. My bridesmaides dresses are Light Pink I was thinking about haveing the men wear black tuxes with Lilac ties and vests or should I have the guys wear pink vests and ties to match the girls. And my flowers are Daisys and Carnations I need alot of help if any body would like to give me some answers on what I should do and give your opinion? Thank You Very Much.
I have a Ivory Wedding Dress What Color Tux should my Fiance Wear?
it would probably look better to have the groomsmen wear pink ties %26amp; maybe black vests - or whatever color suits you choose;
Charcoal would also be nice ( DARK GREY - not quite black)
your groom could have the champagne / ivory tie %26amp; vest ( keep them the same color)
for your groomsmen pink ties %26amp; vest may be a bit too much - if you kept it to just the colored ties %26amp; then maybe bring the lilac in with the boutoniers - talk to your florist about this.
the lilac ties for the men would work if you are having lilac flowers in the girls bouquets. but again probably keep it to just the ties. have a look at some different combinations at your suit hire place.
Reply:I defonatly think a really light pink i got married in champaign and ivory as you can see on my pic and my husband and son had a light pink tux and cravat , the colours really look gorgeouse together and the pink really complimeants the ivory, if you like ill send you a pic so you can have a look? x
Reply:My husband got married in Ivory, also. You could have ivory with a lilac cravatte and waistcoat.
I had an ivory suit and my bridesmen had gold jackets with coffee trousers.
Also my flowers were black lillies.
Reply:stick with the classics....don't get yourself crazy....think red carpet...the tux is not meant to match the gown....you can always tie a color in with the flower for the men....perhaps a lavender accent...or ivory....
the shirt can be off white...instead of white....
Reply:i like the black tux with ivory vest...or he could just go all black...very classy
I'd have the guy's vests match the girls' dresses...but you could go either way I guess.
You don't want them to look like easter bunnies with all of that purple and pink!!
Reply:I also have an ivory dress and my fiance is wearing a chocolate brown tux with a ivory vest and tie..but brown is one of my colors..but i still think brown and ivory look nice together
Reply:I think the Black Tux with ivory vest and a champainge tie would be the best way to go.. Matching and classic.
Reply:A proper tux is always black.
Reply:post the pics when you are done! I am sure it will be beautiful whatever you choose.
Reply:black
Reply:My wedding dress is Ivory trimmed in Apple (also from David's Bridal). My fiancee is wearing a black tux with an ivory tie and vest. Two of my bridesmaid's dresses are Apple. The cooresponding groomsmen will wear black tuxes with Apple ties. The other two bridesmaid gowns are Latte, and their groomsmen are wearing black tuxes with latte accessories. They are all wearing Ivory shirts.
I personally think Ivory and White clash. That's why I'm sticking to all Ivory.
Also, if your groom wears an Ivory vest, you can get one with texture so that it looks a bit different and not just a sheer Ivory vest. They have some interesting textures at Men's Warehouse, which is a sister company of David's Bridal.
Good luck!

Good luck!

Is it too early to spray Daconil on lilacs? Leaf buds and bloom buds are appearing. Spray schedule?
What are you spraying for? If it's just the powdery mildew common on lilac leaves in the fall, don't bother... doesn't really bother the plants, especially when the damage isn't apparent till late in the summer. Prune for increased air circulation.
Most fungicides are fairly nasty. Bordeaux mixture and sulfur are about the most benign of the bunch, and will control powdery mildew.
If you've got Ascochyta, pruning and sanitation will go a long way towards controlling it.

no need to spray. fertilize with a bit of bone meal and water.

Sprayed? NEED HELP ASAP!?
Ok, i have a lilac tree in my backyard and my city sprays for mosquitos every year, they didn't spray this year yet, but would the chemicals be in/on from last year?
I really need to know this before giving the branch of lilacs to my pets.
Sprayed? NEED HELP ASAP!?
it should be a non issue for the pets..I use a similar product in my mosquito control, probably considered a bit harsher than sumithrin (anvil) and have never heard of any issues with larger animals, even when newly hatched birds in the nest get sprayed.
Reply:It's unlikely that enough insecticide remains in the tree from a year ago to be harmful.
Most modern insecticides break down in far less than a year, but to be sure, you'd need to find out what they sprayed that year, and from there you can look up its persistence or "half-life" as they often say (the point in time where the substance has half the lethal capacity)
Also, you didn't say what your pets will likely do with this branch of lilacs. But for sure if they aren't going to eat it, there's no risk - if there was, you'd have heard about pets being affected from going out into yards that have just been sprayed.
Reply:you need to find out what kind of lilac it is, first of all, since some species are toxic.
but either way, i would not give it to your pets. you never know what could be on it, and without knowing WHAT the chemical was the city used your guess would be as good as mine.

Drying help?
Okay.
I've been gathering flowers and herbs in the woods, and they all smell wonderful; especially the lilac.
But anyway, I'm having some issues when I dry them.
Here is my process:
Gather the flowers,
Individually pluck the flowers from the stems,
Put the plucked flowers on a tray/baking sheet covered with paper towels,
and finally I place them in a cool area with no direct sunlight.
After they are completely dried they smell terrible!
The lilac smells like a foul fungus!
What have I done wrong?
I thought I was doing it right...
Drying help?
I used to do that years ago and dried them on newspaper. By the time they were dry there was lot of dust etc. Cool area makes them probably rot. What works is to dry them in oven on a very very low setting. You try to dry them out, not bake them. My mum did that and people do that when they make apple chips.
Reply:You would be better off to leave them on the stems and hang them upside down somewhere with a good air flow. You could put a light powered fan by them or a fan in the room not directly facing them to increase airflow.
Another option is to put them in paper bags (don't use paper towels!) and put them on a heater (one that won't light on fire) or in ur car on a hot day. This should dry them out as well.
My guess is the paper towel absorb the water that is evaporating in the heat and this causes fungi to have a breading ground which quickly spreads to the flowers.
Good luck.
Reply:I don't know what is wrong with that way but my mom takes them and places them between two pages of a heavy book. Then she puts it somewhere where it will stay shut (maybe put a rock on it) and keeps it like that for a long time. I'm not sure if that keeps the smell but they look really pretty.
Reply:well even if you have freshen them out dont put them under a shaid beacuse plants need sunlight beacuse the sun will help it prevent pollon and it will dry out more quicker and grow with sensce of smell...xxxxx
i think just guessed but hope it helps kk..xxx

Revlon makeup advice. Help me please!?
I'm trying to change up my look and start using makeup in different ways. Is there a website or a pic that show this? I really want to use lilac and light green makeup together. I bought a Revlon quad compact with light pink, light/metallic green, lilac and dark purple eye shadows. Obviously, you can use these together but I don't know what would look good.

"I LOVE LILAC FLOWERS"!:) "BUT I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO KNOW WHICH ONE DOES THE LILAC FLOWER GROW ON-A TREE, AND/OR A BUSH"?:(

"Is it a tree, and/or a bush"?:O?
mostly bush .... in fact ask your local garden shop assistant for help .. they should know better..
Do take note of where you may wanna plant them.. in the shade, sun, dry area or you like them to be low laying or to hide something...
Reply:They grow on a bush but can get really big so make sure you have time to take care of it.
Reply:There's a fine line between trees and shrubs. Some may say that once a tree grows taller than 2 meters high and the trunk is more than 5 cm wide, then it is a tree. Others may say that it has to be over 6 m. But then you have bonsai trees which are very short specimens.
Most agree, however, that if a specimen has many stems at ground level, then it is a shrub. The two terms are interchangeable, and there's no hard and fast rule.
Reply:They are commonly referred to as bushes because that's the way they're cultivated through pruning, however technically, they're a tree. In the end it's really irrelevant. If you like the appearance and the scent then go for it.

Reply:Lilac bush
Reply:Lilacs are bushes, and they come in dwarf varieties that only get to be about 4 feet tall. I have both regular lilacs and French lilacs, the regular bloom first, the French right after so I get a longer time of that wonderful scent coming in through my kitchen window!
If you see a lilac tree....it is a bush that has been grafted onto another tree....a bit trickier to grown that type of plant.
Reply:In answer to your question it depends on which species you have, most people have the lilac BUSH which is NOT the same as a tree.
One way to tell the difference very easily and simply by the fact that trees grows with one main trunk while bushes grow with many branches and always produce new shoots. and they do not grow to the same height as a tree.
Japanese Lilac Tree
A Japanese lilac tree is very similar to a lilac bush, except that it grows more upright and has a wider trunk.

my favourite colour is purple. i love it and it has so many different shades and brightens up anything. it is also the colour for madness so it reflects me rather well.

You ever catch a glimpse of an "electric" shade of blue that catches in, like, a stadium spotlight reflecting off a guitar, or glinting off of a metallic blue titanium sruface... it's a bright peacock shade of blue that is utterly amazing. If you ever see it you'll never forget it. I've only caught it a few times but it takes my breath away when I do.

Wedding Flowers...thoughts please?
My wedding colors are victorian Lilac, clover and cream (see link for exact colors-click on color wizard). What flowers would compliment these colors? I'm not crazy about lilies and I've steered away from lilac colored roses because it's difficult to match colors. What do you think?
http://www.alfredangelo.com/Collections/...
Wedding Flowers...thoughts please?
You could aways do the flowers in celadon green hydrangea and pale pink roses for the girls.
If you like orchids there are a variety of colors to choose from. You could have green cymbidium orchids for your bouquet. Or sterling vanda orchids and cream roses.
Reply:how about actual lilacs? they smell so good and come in purple, white, and pink...and their leaves are green...
Reply:Nice dress. What color sash? What about white flowers with alittle purple. Or white flowers with a lilac ribbon around bouquet.
Reply:Keep everything simple. You will enjoy them more and save money at the same time.
Reply:Pink.
Actually pink is like a neutral color and can be used in so many shades. I would keep the pink in one deeper and one
lighter shade from your favorite pink. The other colors in your wedding will pop the pink. Really a nice look And nearly every flower comes in a shade of pink.
Reply:if that is your wedding dress, then it is WAY too simple. get a big, white, puffy, gorgeous dress. you will remember it for the rest of your life

I'm sorry your sister passed away. Perhaps your dream helped you deal with this possibility. In your dream, you were able to see your sister, alive, for the last time. This was to be a blessing and a comfort for you.
Usually, in this type of a dream, the various characters display the many characteristics and dimensions that lie within you. You must be a beautiful person.
The book, recommended to you below, is not a bunch of hocus pocus. It is written by a PhD and is easy to follow and read. It is a staple for many people how have trained in psychotherapy.

Liac Flowering Bush/Shrub?
At my previous house I bought a plant with lovely lilac flowers on it, and planted it in ,my back garden. It grew enormous in just one summer and now I have moved I have looked all over for this same plant yet cannot find it anywhere. I am sure it began with the letter L, and it is not lilac or lavender. Can anyone help.
Thank you
Liac Flowering Bush/Shrub?
Hard to tell without knowing what kind of flowers or what zone. I'm thinking maybe Rose of Sharon, or Hibiscus.
Also a Royal Empress tree could be made into a bush. They grow like weeds and have lilac flowers in the spring with a faint fregrance.
Angel trumpet is more viney but comes in lavender.
Hydrangea also comes in blueish purple as well as pink %26amp; white. They go dormant in winter.
I don't know the species names for these plants, maybe one of them starts with the letter "L". Good luck finding it. Can you go to your old house %26amp; take a clipping or picture to show to a garden shop? Are you living in the same zone? That might be why you can't find it at your new location.

Makeup ideas for Halloween?
My brother in law is having a costume party and I'm going as a fairy, my costume and wings are blue, green and lilac (all pastel shades) and I have a lilac wig (pigtails with butterfly hairties.) I'm not very good with makeup, but I wanted something fun, a bit whisical but dramatic too. I was thinking about using all three colors on my eyes, making them run diagonally from the nose side of my eye out , I tried it out and it didn't turn out the greatest. How do I blend the colors together so it looks good? Any other ideas? If you could explain everything like I was five I'd really appreciate it, I'm a hot mess when it comes to makeup! Thanks!
Makeup ideas for Halloween?
try going to a site like www.limecrime.net. Click on the 'extras' link in the top left-hand corner. Then click on makeup tutorials. She has a TON of awesome makeup ideas.
Reply:I am a face painter. When we make "mysticals" we tend to blend the colors together and do a lot of line work (base color underneath and highlight with lines, swirls). My best advice is to try to keep it simple and use glitter. You could try the face painting sites for ideas ( for example snazaroo.com, fpbaa.com) or just put face painting in your browser. Many of us have websites with pictures on them. You'll get some great ideas.
Good Luck
Reply:Either use white pancake, if you can find it, or a white clown base but very thin, so your whole face is white.
If you have blue, green and lilac make up - then use it in areas rather than trying to be too fancy. For instance
use the lilac or green on your lids and under your brow
Use the blue in your eyebrow
Then take the unusued third color (green or lilac) and use it to expand the area above the brow and below the eye socket.
Use a little of the lilac like a blush in your cheeks - very light and gentle.
If your ears are showing, make them green.
You can do an accent on your nose, if you want - be careful it doesn't start to look like an animal
That may be enough. Try it and see. But the white base will help set everything else off. And don't forget to powder down after you finish, to set the make up, if you've been using grease rather than water based

try going to a site like www.limecrime.net.

What would be a complimentary color for MOG's dress?
The bridesmaid's dresses color is called "pool"...it is a light turquoise/tiffany blue color. You can see it at :http://www.davidsbridal.com/bridesmaids_...
The mother of the bride is considering a soft lilac color. I would love suggestions of complimentary colors for my mother of the groom dress. I tend to look better in jewel-tone wintery colors, however, I don't want to be in something too dark and I look horrible in most pastels-especially peach-tones. The lilac color threw me a bit and I'm honestly not sure what would be complementary. Please help!
What would be a complimentary color for MOG's dress?
For those that are suggesting beige - don't do it. You say you look bad in peachy tones, well most beiges have an underlying peach tone to them.
I would consider a pewter grey - not a pastel but still light enough that you won't stand out in dark colors. Like this:

Reply:That was my color. I told the MOG to wear silver.... my mother did...she came in a rose color lol. I was so stunned but it was ok because at that point I could care less so to sum it up silver
Reply:The MOB made a great choice. There's nothing wrong with you going with a jewel-toned dress - the two of you don't need to match. Maybe you could wear sapphire or emerald.
Reply:Any shade of brown. Mocha, chocolate, champagne.
Reply:While you don't like dark colors, I think a chocolate brown would look georgeous with this color.
Other wise go with a pastel of the same tone.
I was told the other day that the MOG job is to wear beige, show up and shuddup.. Dont know how true that all is, but beige isnt a bad idea..
The color really limits your choices. Just be sure that you dont clash in pictures..Maybe get a swatch of the fabric and take it with you when you dress shop - that way you know somehting wont scream in pics.
Have you asked the bride if she has a preference??
Reply:http://www.davidsbridal.com/bridesmaids_...
How about something in plum or royal blue? See colors at site above.
Or as psstoffagain suggested above, beige is always safe for the MOG. (o:
Have you asked the bride for suggestions? What does she think about it?
Reply:What about a royal blue? I love that color!
Reply:Gray/silver would compliment you nicely while also blending with the colors of the wedding. I would advise against dark colors as they stand out in pictures.
I have been a wedding photographer and wedding coordinator and have to say that few things disrupts pictures as much as crazy colored dresses. As the mother-in-law you may already be coming in on shaky ground and you don't want the pictures to leave a sour taste in your daughter-in-laws mouth. (I had a MOG wear plum once, hideous! And a step-MOG showed up in RED!!! Yikes! Not sure what she was thinking.)
You can't go wrong in silver (neutral), champagne/beige (opposite of "pool" on color wheel), or butter yellow (opposite of lavendar on color wheel).
Reply:What you need to do if you haven't is ask the bride if you can wear a darker color since that looks the best on you. She may be fine with that. She may want everyone in pastels. Ask.
Then, ask what color the flowers will be. A lot of mothers choose their dress colors from the flower palette.
If she does want you in a lighter color than you are used to wearing, make sure you wear darker makeup and lipstick to overcome the pastel.

Suggestions??
im painting my room (im 14) and my rug is a lilac purple color and i was wondering wat color to paint the walls...i have a very light room and i almost always have a lot of sunlight in it so i want a light color for the walls. any suggestions that would match a lilac rug??
Suggestions??
A light gray would look great with your rug. It will also be a good basis for giving your room a more "grown-up" look.
Reply:hi ella! i think you should paint the room a yellow. There are many types and you can go from very light (almost white) to blow your head away yellow/orange. i think purple and yellow go very well. If i was you i would pick something in the middle of the 2. I dont like blow your head away, but a color that's almost white is very boaring. Good luck!!!! tt me if u need help!!!!!
Reply:Lilac is my fave color!
Well, the best color I think is a light green, a bluish green to pick up the rug.
These colors are close on the color wheel, and if you look up the color wheel, you'll see it well-recommended.
Now, the traditional color to go with purple is yellow, but I find it has a very sickeneing effect in the long run. If you ever read Sylvia Plath's "The Yellow Wallpaper"... well, Depression Central.
Now that was fiction, but add my experience: Yellow dining room walls with huge windows and lots of green reflected off the grass outside=
Nauseating!
So, green is my guess.
Further, you want three levels of color in your room.
The lightest for the walls usually works best, the dark color could be your carpet but it seems you carpet will be the medium color value, and the darkest can be your accents (like dark furniture, or comforter and curtains.)
The floor you usually want darker than the walls and even the rest fo the room, so that it feels grounded. Otherwise, the room can seem to float, and some people are uncomfortable.
So, I'm with you on that.
Reply:a very pale green or yellow would work with your rug and keep it light and fresh. if you paint the walls green, for instance, use small amounts of yellow along with lilac as an accent...or vice-a-versa.
hope this helps :)
Reply:White. Add color in your pictures and other decor. Too much purple will get boring after a while.
Reply:If you like brown and want tsomething bold , trendy and chic ,there are some great browns with purple undertones that woudl look awesome. You just need somehting to tie the two colours togehter like bedding or pillows. Try the brown with lilac and a nice crisp white.
Reply:If you have a very light room, try a darker color. be sure to use a deep tint primer (grey) if you do. paint store have free home dec advisers.

What colour bedding for this makeover?
The room is for a pre-teen girl in a Victorian-styled house.
The bed, furnishings and trim are white.
The walls are lilac, like this, and won't be changed:
http://imagecache2.allposters.com/images...
The carpet is ecru, or dark beige and won't be changed.
http://www.becklerscarpet.com/carpet/ima...
Horizontal blinds on the small window are cranberry, but can be replaced. What colour?
Ideas on colours for the bed and window coverings? Thanks. I've been looking on Sears.ca .
What colour bedding for this makeover?
A deeper plum for the bed will really bring out the liliac on the walls and the more neautral rugs for a big pop in the room and some sheer purple coveringsslightly darker then the walls
Reply:Other tones of purple or yellow would look great. A pastel yellow...
Reply:hmmm... Cranberry, Dark beige, and lilac..... I would try different browns to go w/ it, or light beige, or even caramel.
Reply:i would bring out the lilac color in the bedding and get pillows with lilac and pink. i would do a sheer window covering
Reply:Try JCPenney. They have lots of pre-teen and teen room bedding, accents and accessories.

Last night i dreamt i went to this event, wedding or something. This woman wore the same evening dress as....?
mine. Its a lilac dress with silver diamontes and beads all over it, which i actually really do have in real life, packed away in a box. This woman in my dream wore the exact same dress as mine, and i mean exact, was almost like she deliberately wore the same, the only difference was hers was a light pink colour -mine was lilac. So because she wore the same, i remember feeling annoyed in the dream, so she got changed into something else. I'm not stupid and realise that dreams always end up meaning more to what you think it means, it never ends up meaning the obvious. Like this doesn't mean in real life that, when i wear this dress sometime in the future, that some woman is going to end up wearing the exact same dress too??cause that just sounds silly, this definitely has a whole other different meaning behind it. Anyone think they might know?? I have no idea why my dreams are so weird. Why on earth i'd dream of this beautiful dress (which i actually do have) packed away in a box
Last night i dreamt i went to this event, wedding or something. This woman wore the same evening dress as....?
It could mean you arent comfortable with a certain life decision, and wish you had chosen this 'pink dress'
Reply:Dang, I can't remember the name of this website that can answer your question. It's called dream something... But maybe you can google up a dream interpretation site.
Reply:it means you have very deep feelings when it comes to your stuff. It's yours, and no one else's. You have very strict boundaries around your stuff, and don't want people come close to it, because it determines who you are.
Reply:Moving into lilac means a deeper understanding of yourself.
She wore a dress that was pink. that's "good natured, and naive"
You just progressed from someone that just learned a lesson and is embracing maturity.
You know better than her so you were annoyed that she copied you, You do not wish to be the person you were a year or so ago.
Reply:The dresses could be symbolic of a different conflict either in your social life or in your personal life. Or maybe you have a deep down desire to buy a new evening dress and thus create reasons to replace the lilac dress. No woman wants to be seen wearing the same attire as another woman.
Reply:it sounds like maybe you are conscious of what you wear and how it looks to others...not that it rules your life but maybe if it isn't exactly right and doesn't get commented on your feelings may be a little hurt...or if someone wears something you don't think looks as good as yours but gets comments it bothers you...i am not saying you are conceited it happens to most people...perhaps this happened and just kind of stayed on your mind and put this wacky dream together to get rid of it...

Purple Bill Budgie?
Hey me again my new budgie is lilac, and has a lilac bill/cere. He/she is a baby.....any ideas on the sex of it?
Purple Bill Budgie?
Please people stop giving out false information!!!
Just because it's purple does NOT mean it's a male. It's a violet not a lilac on top of it. This is how you tell the sex of keets. I really get sick of repeating myself here....
Males will have a complete, get it complete blue or purple cere
Females will and can have a blue or purple cere with a hint of white around the nostril opens when they are young. AS they AGE it will turn brown and crusty. If they are taken away from the stimulation of a male, fake bird, or mirror, it can turn back to the blue or purple cere with white around the nostril openings.
Reply:Baby Budgies will often be distinguishable by the fleshy cere on their beaks. Females usually have a white or pale blue cere. males usually have a purple cere. Sounds like you may have a male.
You can find a great article on this subject at the yahoo group helloeberybirdie .
Reply:Young female - whitish cere
Young male - purple cere
Now lutinos and albinos get a little tricky for inecperienced people but you don't have to worry about that.
Your bird is a male.

Male or female amazon?
I have an 8 yr old Lilac Crowned Amazon, and a 18 month old Lilac Crowned Amazon. They both talk up a storm, copying each other. They aren't housed together. The older one has always been grouchy and I can hold on hand, but not touch. The other one is a lot younger, but bigger and much more docile. I have raised the both of them from bald little chicks. Other than DNA, is there a more-or-less method of sexing? I live in Mexico and don't have all of the services available. Thx
Male or female amazon?
Go to google and type in "DNA sexing for birds" and you'll get a ton of hits on companies that will send you kits that you can just mail in and get them sexed. There is no other way to tell for sure(Other than one of them laying an egg) if they are male or female.
