Reply:I, only have one rat, I have had him for about two years. His name is Nibbler, he's a male, he's two years old, he is a cream color with tan on his back, with white around his nose. Wow, you have a lo of rats! My parents brought home nibbler two years ago, they went over to their friends home who also breed rats, to drop off a movie they borrowed, and came back with a Swiss cake roll box. They handed it to me and asked if i wanted one, so i stuck my hand in there thinking they were Swiss cake rolls, and almost dropped the box! There was Nibbler, looking about as surprised as me. Since then he has grown rather large, and rather fat.
Reply:i have 2 boy rats , one hairless

named boomalloo and hirmit

hirmit is the hairless one

hirmit is tanish and boomer is white with a milky brown head

they are both very tame and sweet and like rat massages

for hirmits massage i rotate his skin in a circle and he will jst sleep , boomer i stroke his head and stroke his back to his tail and they both seem to like it. they are about 3 mothes old each, i got hirmit for free from a rat breeder and i want to get more from her because she is now breeding hairless dumbo rats, blue rats, and curly rats. boomaloo i got from petco for free because someone abandoned him there with his brother and mother. and i love my rats to death and could never live without them. a few years back i had a small albino rat named timpoltine off of cherlotes web. and he was so jumpy he would jump out of his cage, on my bed, anywhere he could reach, i loved him a lot too but he passed at about 1 year. its the saddest thing when rats pass. im so glad i could share my rats with you and if you want to see pictures of my rats and other pets

Grade 8 Graduation help, PLEASE! :)?

my grade eight graduation is coming up!! :) my dress is a lilac necktie jersey bubble dress from Mendocino, but i would like some advice.

because of the neckline of the dress (kinda like a halter, but starts in the middle), my sister advised me to keep my hair up so i can show off my shoulders. i honestly dont really like the way my hair looks up so i was wondering if there are any specific styles that might work.. my hair is dark brown and just a little past my shoulders. buttttttttt, i was wondering, if my hair is down, is there a way to make it look nice without taking away any attention from the dress?

lastly, i was wondering what colour accesories i should get. i heard silver looks nice with a lilac dress, but im not sure. i would need to buy a pair shoes and maybe a clutch. any store suggestions would be great! i live in canada, so i dont have the "luxury" of a dillards or a nordstrom :P

sorry for all the questions! im pretty excited about this! thanks for reading %26lt;3

Reply:my eighth grade graduation is coming up too. Do you have a link to your dress?

If I were you, I would go get my hair done. The people at the place would have lots of really good suggestions. yeah, silver will look really good with your dress.

What kind of tree is it?

I live in Minneapolis MN. There is a tree growning with my lilacs, about 1/3 taller than lilac. Bark is greyish-brown. Trunk is about the size of a baseball bat. There are thorns all along the branches/twigs. I have no idea what this is . . .

What kind of tree is it?
It does sound like a Hawthorne. Be careful, the thorns hide when the tree realy leafs out. If the tree has thorns on the trunk, however, you are probably in the locust family. The Hawthorns will have what looks like small red fruits in the fall that are called haws. They are usually red and quite small. They are not poisonous but have a blah taste.
Reply:neither do i but ive seen them before, ran into a few in the woods, not fun but they get massive and the thorns get huge, id atleast take it out of your garden or it will overwhelm everything in there
Reply:Might be a horse chestnut tree

If you have that then I would advise you to keep it because they are quite rare around these areas.

They originally came from England.
Reply:sounds like a Hawthorn

What should I do with my hair for the school prom (please read the additional info)?

I have naturally blonde hair (and hating it) which I dye copper every 6 weeks with temporary hair dye.

My prom dress is lilac and was bought a while back when the prom tickets were first on sale back near October-time, before I persuaded my mum to let me dye my full hair instead of just highlights.

Mum says that red hair will clash with lilac, and therefore I should have my hair another colour, I haven't tried the dress on recently so I don't know if it will clash or not.

I suggested an auburn colour, or at the very least a reddish-brown but she says blonde will work best. You'll have more luck getting me to go bald than with hair with any blonde in it.

If I go too dark brown/black it will take forever to get it back to red, and I kinda agree on this, although I would rather it be brown, or even black, than blonde.

My sister has tried light browns recently, and they've come out really dark and her natural hair is only slightly darker than mine.

What should I do with my hair for the school prom (please read the additional info)?
Blonde will work best with lilac...your Mum is right...cool colours go best with red hair...especially green.
Reply:i don't think it should matter what color your hair is. its all about the up do.. and how u present yourself. if u like your hair the way it is. then leave it alone and find the jivest up-do

u could get. and rock it girl....
Reply:there is a famous saying - mum knows best. in this case i truly believe that as blonde hair really does go best with lilac clothes. if you truly wish to have red hair though and don't want it to clash with your dress then change your dress to an emerald green - green is a great colour for redheads, here are some ideas: http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=14677...
Reply:It depends on the tone of red you have your hair. I personally am I huge fan of red hair. My hair won't turn blonde without destroying it. I'm a hairdresser and color expert. All purples have some red in them. So unless your red is toward the red-orange or copper side, I would bet that you will be fine. A lighter brown with a red undertone would be nice also. However, since you have already dyed your hair a few times, go to a salon. It will be worth the money! I would suggest getting some spray silver glitter for your hair also. It looks wonderful with updo's and will accentuate the color of your dress, esp. if you have silver jewlry to go with it. Just remember we are not all barbie dolls. Blonde is not always better. If YOU are more of a redhead in spirit, be yourself. There is beauty just in that.
Reply:Keep it simple, one thing I regret about my prom, is the fact that I think I did too much to my hair.

Try the dress on and see how it looks with your current hair colour, tbh, I don't think the colour will matter too much if it's brown or blonde or black alongside lilac.

Get a good style, that will help more then the colour.
Reply:well if you dont want to go full on brown go with a blonde brown shade you no the ones with tint of brown in so then your not fully blonde

blonde would look best yes

Revlon makeup advice. Help me please!?

I'm trying to change up my look and start using makeup in different ways. Is there a website or a pic that show this? I really want to use lilac and light green makeup together. I bought a Revlon quad compact with light pink, light/metallic green, lilac and dark purple eye shadows. Obviously, you can use these together but I don't know what would look good.

Does anyone have good ideas to paint a room?

so i just got this quilt :

http://www.pbteen.com/products/p1398/ind...

and i got a lilac paint because i want to paint my room.

but i need another color the hot pink can you guys give ideas

on how to paint a room using these two colors :

lilac and hot pink, thanx you guys rock !

Does anyone have good ideas to paint a room?
You could do diamonds, like this:

http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/rm_paint_walls/...

or this:

http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/rm_paint_walls/...

Or paint stripes like this:

http://www.roomvues.com/publicPicture.ph...

Or just random designs like this:

http://www.roomvues.com/publicPicture.ph...
Reply:get some more paint, paint your basecoats and then finish with the lavender. Mix the rest together and sponge and rag it.Or Given the quilt, I would just use a bit darker cream and forget the hot pink alltogether, you want some kind of contrast. I would if feeeling artistic match the stencil with a very very light brown just to show it. use other red accents if you like, a lamp, some pillows.

you must really love this pattern to redecorate based on a 22.99 duvet cover.you can make a stencil for roller pretty easy.. thick plastic is best, and take your time.
Reply:Love the quilt. Why not paint wide stripes horizontally around the room? Personally, I would do lilac, ink, lilac, ink, lilac. With a white ceiling and white trim, it'll look great.

Room decorating Ideas?

I need some ideas to decorate my room. I am a 14 year old girl w/ a small room, about 10X10 ft. I had some ideas-- I wanted to do a real, fun, bright, room. But i also wanted to do a french-chic room-- black pumps as hooks, lilac walls, white down comforter, black vanity, etc. But i also wanted to do a real relaxing one, like a lilac or lite grn with plants. I don't know what to doooo!!!! See, I'm a really fun, bubbly person who loves to laugh, and loves happy colors. But sometimes I get really stressed and just want a place to relax. This needs to be CHEAP! I need some cheap, DIY designer worthy ideas!!! Oh- my friend had a really cool room, it was like royal purple, and w/ a tulle canopy, and royal purple bedspread, etc. I need something CHEAP, FUN, AND I CAN RELAX IN. THANKS SO MUCH

Room decorating Ideas?
Ignore the top answer. a 10 X 10 room can be cheap to do. You could get away with one gallon of paint, which is about 25 bucks. But, keep in mind, if you paint it a wild color, like a purple or a dark color, you will want to change it in a few years. Also, you want a color that goes with the carpet.

Think about your budget. Then, look at catalogs like ABC distributing or a Big Lots type of place. Wal-Mart might even be good.

A pale pink would be good for your french room. You could use the black accents that you mentioned. That could carry you with only a few modifications for a long time. Your art teacher at your high school might be able to help you make some stencils. You could stencil the black pumps and then just put a hook in there.

Or, you could do a soft sage green and stencil in a few flowers of different heights. Then, in the middle of the flower put a hook, and stencil in some dragonflies and lady bugs. Places like Michael's sells the craft paint in tubes for around a dollar or two.

Good luck - and take advantage of your crafty friends and your mom - this could be a great way to spend time.

Reply:Stick with the french-chic you can use lilac and light green accents. Keep the fabrics soft (bedding and curtains) keep the lighting soft. Use candles and plants. Places like Big Lots are good for your bedding.. super cheap. Dollar stores are a great place for cheap accents like picture frames, candles and small mirrors. Keep it simple.
Reply:Use all those colors that you stated... add a few black accent pcs. (like black shelf, vase, bulky picture frame) to enhance and add a little style. In a corner if you can, add some low light and a comfy chair/ bean bag/something to sit on, so you can unwind when you need your down time

Hope this helps!

I want to do something crazy to my hair or my face; like a piercing or other such crazy thing -- but what?

I want to get something crazy done, but I don't know what! I was thinking about a Monroe piercing, but my sister pointed out that Amy Winehouse has one, so I quickly forgot that Idea.

I would like an interesting and unusual piercing, but I want something really cool -- and I don't know enough about piercings to think of something really cool (or maybe I'm just a moron, lol).

I DON'T want to be too mainstream, too Scene, too Emo, or have anything done that a celebrity has popularised (I don't mind doing something that a celebrity has done -- celebrities have done most things -- but I don't want to do something that a celebrity has MADE cool).

I'm not against dying my hair, as long as it's a colour that's obviously not my natural colour (like lilac or something, but not lilac).

If it's relevant, I'm a natural blonde with fairly pale skin and grey-green eyes.

Oh, and I'm too young for a tattoo (I'm 16), but I’m def getting one when I’m 18.

Any advice is most welcome! Thanks!

I want to do something crazy to my hair or my face; like a piercing or other such crazy thing -- but what?
I would go for something unusual with the hair.I'm all for unusual colors, choppy layers and even strange shaved bits (all of which are part of my hairstyle). If you're not willing to touch up every few weeks and style it every morning, then do something new with your makeup.

There are lots of ways to do flashy makeup that is totally temporary and easily changeable. You don't even have to wait for your face to grow back (like hair) if you don't like it.

If you don't know much about piercing, now is NOT the time to be getting one. Do some research and learn all about the subject before you go get pierced. You can look around www.bmezine.com and see what the various piercing options are. If you fall in love with one, learn everything you can about it including, aftercare and jewlery wearing. Never get a piercing you don't know allllll about.
Reply:Do something completely N-U-T-S with ur HAIR. That way if you ever decide you don't want it anymore it can go away. Dye it a really bright color, and cut it into a spiky mo-hawk or something that will grab attention! ;D

You should dye pieces of your hair different colors of the rainbow! That would be unique and look AMAZing!

and for piercing ...avoid the one on nose or that one that hang out from the nostrils

think twice that's my only advice

in the cold weather if you get a flu and stuffy or runny nose

how you gonna hold a napkin and blow your nose...and the mucous will sticks to the piercing and it might get rusty on your nose....think twice that's my only advice...:)
Reply:How is getting a piercing crazy?

People have different types of piercing. You can check out www.bmezine.com for pictures of some. Ones that pop out to me that I don't see on many people's faces are vertical labret, inverse vertical labret, jestrum, bridge, and large gauge nostril.

Piercings don't make a person "Scene" or "Emo". The person themselves make themself like that. If you think certain piercings make a person a different label maybe you should rethink it..

You do know that will need parental consent for a piercing until your 18, right?

But fun hair colors would be purple, neon green (two colors I wish I would have dyed my hair, before I had to get to the real world and get a job) blue, pink, blood red....etc.

Name of purple tree?

I saw these trees growing on the sides of the road on Interstate 70 as I was driving through Kansas and Missouri. They were about 20 to 30 feet tall, and they were bright purple-lilac-Wisteria colored. I searched the net for all the trees I thought it could be and ruled out the following: Wisteria, Jacaranda, Purple smoke tree, Purple orchid tree, and lilacs. The trees I just mentioned had the color of the mystery tree, but were not the tree. Can anybody please tell me what these really cool looking trees are?

Name of purple tree?
Sounds like flowering plum to me. They'll have little pink flowers that in the colder climes you are at will likely not start blooming for a few months.

They tend to get about that high after 10 years or so. At most nurseries you buy them at 4ft.

The older ones actually have small cherry sized plums, which you can eat, although they tend to be either very sweet, or very sour.

They do tend to suffer from bark beetles though. It's important to paint their trunks, and shade them.

Aside from that, care is pretty simple, and mostly involves trimming off the many side shoots that they produce.
Reply:umm, with flowering plum, the tree is purple, and the flowers are pink. Sorry if I didn't make that clear in the answer. Thanks for the ten points though. Report It

Reply:Trees were probably purple leaf plum. Hardy variety and kind of cheap. Grow quickly. You need to look out for insects as they have tender leaves and thin bark. A little maintenance and proper irrigation they do great. Make sure you get the upright version of the tree.
Reply:Maybe flowering plum?
Reply:It's probably some kind of redbud tree.

What is your opinion on my wedding colors?

My gown is ivory with a tiny bit of champagne color accents. The brides maids dresses are going to be lilac. The men will wear black tuxes with lilac vest and bow tie, I want the flowers to be ivory colored roses, shades of purple hydrangeas, white stephanotis, and just a touch of something pink, and silver accents.

All bows for flowers/pews/doors will be large silver bows.

So what do you think? I know its up to me and what I want, but I would just like some opinions on what you guys think! Thanks in advance!! :)

What is your opinion on my wedding colors?
That sounds beautiful. Elegance comes to mind.

For my wedding, my wedding dress was diamond white. My colors were lilac or lavender and light blue. I liked the contrast. I also wanted my bridesmaids and the men to be comfortable with the colors. (pink was out)

In the bouquets, the florist threw in some yellow and it looked beautiful. It made everything pop (all of the colors).

It sounds like your wedding is going to be absolutely beautiful.

Congratulations and I hope you enjoy yourself. I hope it's everything you want it to be.
Reply:It sounds a little washed-out. Like there might not be enough contrast between the colors, and they could all end up looking white/gray/nondescript in the photos.
Reply:The ivory and lilac is lovely, but skip the silver. If you need another accent colour, go with a darker purple.
Reply:Sounds good, have you thought about putting the groom in a champagne vest to match you since you both are the stars of the day and your dress has the champagne in it?
Reply:yeah it sounds really pretty so go 4 it
Reply:I'm renewing my vows with my husband and my colors are champagne and lilac and I am putting my hubby's best man in lilac (tie and vest) in charcoal grey tuxedo as well as my Matron of Honor in lilac

With champagne, lilac and white it makes it work, you're doing just fine so, hang in there and have fun, don't stress too much about it, it will go better if you can let some of the stress go.
Reply:I think it sounds beautiful. Its soft and elegant but not over the top. Good job in my book. :0)
Reply:My opinion is..... it's beautiful.
Reply:If you love it then go for it..I'm more of a bright bold colors girl but thats just my style, go for whatever fits you best after all its YOUR big day! So have fun with it and get what you want. CONGRATS BY THE BY!
Reply:It sounds very pretty, Just not my style I like bright bold colors rather than pastels.
Reply:It sounds well thoughout and very pretty. Good Luck!
Reply:Sounds beautiful but imho, if your gown is ivory and you have champagne accents you should probably go with gold bows, not silver. I think if you were wearing white and the accent was different I would go with silver.
Reply:As long as your guys are ok wearing lilac! I had a coral wedding and my guys wore a silver vest so they didn't feel girly! But other then that, it sounds pretty!
Reply:I absolutely love it, it's soft, elegant, sophisticated, romantic, and unusual. Love it!
Reply:that's an awesome combination. i love ivory over white. its much more elegant. i also liek the idea of the lilac as well, it fits with every season
Reply:Trust me absolutely gorgeous. Those are the colors my wedding party is wearing. I love all the colors in the purple family so I chose lilac and silver for my party. I asked the question the other day about the flowers what colors and people said it is ok to do other purples inside of the bouquets instead of just keeping it plain and simple with just lilac, so we will have lilac, silver and a few hints of two more purples. Good Luck.

Reply:Bridesmaid dresses are thankfully looking less and less like, well... bridesmaid dresses. And they usually come in a wealth of different colors. Vera Wang has a really beautiful line of bridesmaid dresses, all different lengths and colors. Another option is to just go to the formal section of a department store and see what they have. Reply:With more and more people getting married more than once a lot of bridal stores either have dresses in other colours or can make a dress you like in a colour of your choice.

Ask at your local boutique and if they don't do it themselves they will know someone who will
Reply:Get creative! Check out brides maid dresses or even high end evening wear. I know Vera Wang makes dresses in lilac that would be lovely wedding dresses. Depending on the fabric and style you may even be able to get the dress dyed (ala brides maid shoes!) but get a professional to do it!
Reply:She can get ahold of the wedding dress stores. They can maybe special order it in. If not, they can most likely tell you WHERE you can. Good Luck, and it sounds very pretty.
Reply:If you can't find them already made, you can have a custom make if you know the "pattern" you want the dress....so go ahead and have her try on white dresses to see how a "pattern" will look on her.
Reply:Quinceanera dresses! Most of the quinceanera dresses look exactly like wedding dresses. Some are white but lavender and pink are the next popular colors. Do a search under that and I"m sure many will come up. Another option would be to go to a bridal store in a hispanic area and they might have them in the window display.
Reply:If she knows someone who sews you can buy a wedding dress pattern at Jo Ann's fabrics, and use lavender/lilac as the color.

We are planning our wedding for June of 2008, advice please!?
If you are looking to see great decor , flower , color ideas for your wedding

check out http://www.sensationalbrides.com

The site is filled with galleries of photos of every aspect of wedding decorations and colors. Hope this helps ;)
Reply:Any other pastels should go great... and even an ivory color. When you start looking at specifics like bridesmaids dresses, flowers, etc. you may notice that certain things look best in certain colors.

If you want, you could incorporate a darker/brighter color to give a "pop" of color... a darker/brighter shade of the lilac would go great.

Golds and silvers usually go with just about anything... and even black!

I would just suggest checking different colors of different "things" (dresses, flowers, tuxedo vests, etc) and when you see it, you'll know it... You could always go to a book store and finger through their wedding magazines to get a few ideas... and you can go to a craft store to look at their artificial flowers to get an idea of what kind of flower and what color you would like.

Good luck and hope this helps! Congrats!
Reply:I was a 2007 June Bride and used yellows and greens in my flowers. The greens were really unique and would also be a complimentary color to a purple shade like lilac. Some flower recommendations are green and purple hydrangeas with yellow day lilies. All these are in season at this time. Just decide where you want to use each color (bridesmaids, mens vests/ties, flowers, invitations.) Enjoy!
Reply:That is such a pretty color. I think an ivory would be absolutely beautiful with that. Congrats!
Reply:firstly congrats, im getting married in June too!

Have you booked a venue yet because your colours may depend a lot on the colour sceme of your location. Here are a few idea to go with lilac;

pale green

chocolate brown

silver

gold and black

light blue and navy blue

hot pink

Most colours would look ok with lilac, just stay away from light pinks as it will make your colour scheme look too pale and washed out, and colours like red, orange and yellow as they will clash.
Reply:light blue, pale pink, pale geen ,aple yellwo, a nice soft bown or tan would go good,..creamy pearly color, gold too
Reply:I had a light purple lavendar/lilac and a blue at Davids Bridal called pool others call it...Tiffany blue I think if you search davids bridal you can look at a pool color dress and see if it works. I loved my colors they went well together I thought. Good luck
Reply:Nice pale greens go very well with lilac, even light blues.
Reply:light yellow, light brown
Reply:White

Yellow

Green

Peach

Pink (light and dark)

Silver

Do an image search for flower bouquets. It is the best way to see colours working in harmony, even if you are not looking for flowers yet you will be able to visualize the colours working together.
Reply:I had various shades of puple, yellow, and white.

Good Luck.
Reply:I used Lilac and Silver for our May wedding, it was very pretty!!
Reply:Light greens, yellows, pink, white, silver, and black.

What are the lyrics to the poem " When lilacs last in the Dooryard Bloom's " by Walt Whitman?

yeah weird name

Hard history question

it's about Abe Lincoln

What are the lyrics to the poem " When lilacs last in the Dooryard Bloom's " by Walt Whitman?
When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloom'd

from Memories of President Lincoln

1

When lilacs last in the dooryard bloom'd,

And the great star early droop'd in the western sky in the night,

I mourn'd, and yet shall mourn with ever-returning spring.

Ever-returning spring, trinity sure to me you bring,

Lilac blooming perennial and drooping star in the west,

And thought of him I love.

2

O powerful western fallen star!

O shades of night -- O moody, tearful night!

O great star disappear'd -- O the black murk that hides the star!

O cruel hands that hold me powerless -- O helpless soul of me!

O harsh surrounding cloud that will not free my soul.

3

In the dooryard fronting an old farm-house near the white-wash'd palings,

Stands the lilac-bush tall-growing with heart-shaped leaves of rich green,

With many a pointed blossom rising delicate, with the perfume strong I love,

With every leaf a miracle -- and from this bush in the dooryard,

With delicate-color'd blossoms and heart-shaped leaves of rich green,

A sprig with its flower I break.

4

In the swamp in secluded recesses,

A shy and hidden bird is warbling a song.

Solitary the thrush,

The hermit withdrawn to himself, avoiding the settlements,

Sings by himself a song.

Song of the bleeding throat,

Death's outlet song of life, (for well dear brother I know,

If thou wast not granted to sing, thou would'st surely die.)

5

Over the breast of the spring, the land, amid cities,

Amid lanes and through old woods, where lately the violets peep'd from the ground, spotting the gray debris,

Amid the grass in the fields each side of the lanes, passing the endless grass,

Passing the yellow-spear'd wheat, every grain from its shroud in the dark-brown fields uprisen,

Passing the apple-tree blows of white and pink in the orchards,

Carrying a corpse to where it shall rest in the grave,

Night and day journeys a coffin.

6

Coffin that passes through lanes and streets,

Through day and night with the great cloud darkening the land,

With the pomp of the inloop'd flags with the cities draped in black,

With the show of the States themselves as of crepe-veil'd women standing,

With processions long and winding and the flambeaus of the night,

With the countless torches lit, with the silent sea of faces and the unbared heads,

With the waiting depot, the arriving coffin, and the sombre faces,

With dirges through the night, with the thousand voices rising strong and solemn,

With all the mournful voices of the dirges pour'd around the coffin,

The dim-lit churches and the shuddering organs -- where amid these you journey,

With the tolling bells' perpetual clang,

Here, coffin that slowly passes,

I give you a sprig of lilac.

7

(Nor for you, for one alone,

Blossoms and branches green to coffins all I bring,

For fresh as the morning, thus would I chant a song for you O sane and sacred death.

All over bouquets of roses,

O death, I cover you with roses and early lilies,

But mostly and now the lilac that blooms the first,

Copious I break, I break the sprigs from the bushes,

With loaded arms I come, pouring for you,

For you and the coffins all of you, O death.)

8

O western orb sailing the heaven,

Now I know what you must have meant as a month since I walk'd,

As I walk'd in silence the transparent shadowy night,

As I saw you had something to tell as you bent to me night after night,

As you droop'd from the sky low down as if to my side, (while the other stars all look'd on,)

As we wander'd together the solemn night, (for something I know not what kept me from sleep,)

As the night advanced, and I saw on the rim of the west how full you were of woe,

As I stood on the rising ground in the breeze in the cool transparent night,

As I watch'd where you pass'd and was lost in the netherward black of the night,

As my soul in its trouble dissatisfied sank, as where you sad orb,

Concluded, dropt in the night, and was gone.

9

Sing on there in the swamp,

O singer bashful and tender, I hear your notes, I hear your call,

I hear, I come presently, I understand you,

But a moment I linger, for the lustrous star has detain'd me,

The star my departing comrade holds and detains me.

10

O how shall I warble myself for the dead one there I loved?

And how shall I deck my soul for the large sweet soul that has gone?

And what shall my perfume be for the grave of him I love?

Sea-winds blown from the east and west,

Blown from the Eastern sea and blown from the Western sea, till there on the prairies meeting,

These and with these and the breath of my chant,

I'll perfume the grave of him I love.

11

O what shall I hang on the chamber walls?

And what shall the pictures be that I hang on the walls,

To adorn the burial-house of him I love?

Pictures of growing spring and farms and homes,

With the Fourth-month eve at sundown, and the gray smoke lucid and bright,

With floods of the yellow gold of the gorgeous, indolent, sinking sun, burning, expanding the air,

With the fresh sweet herbage under foot, and the pale green leaves of the trees prolific,

In the distance of the flowing glaze, the breast of the river, with a wind-dapple here and there,

With ranging hills on the banks, with many a line against the sky, and shadows,

And the city at hand with dwellings so dense, and stacks of chimneys,

And all the scenes of life and the workshops, and the workmen homeward returning.

12

Lo, body and soul -- this land,

My own Manhattan with spires, and the sparkling and hurrying tides, and the ships,

The varied and ample land, the South and the North in the light, Ohio's shores and flashing Missouri,

And ever the far-spreading prairies cover'd with grass and corn.

Lo, the most excellent sun so calm and haughty,

The violet and purple morn with just-felt breezes,

The gentle soft-born measureless light,

The miracle spreading bathing all, the fulfill'd noon,

The coming eve delicious, the welcome night and the stars,

Over my cities shining all, enveloping man and land.

13

Sing on, sing on, you gray-brown bird,

Sing from the swamps, the recesses, pour your chant from the bushes,

Limitless out of the dusk, out of the cedars and pines.

Sing on dearest brother, warble your reedy song,

Loud human song, with voice of uttermost woe.

O liquid and free and tender!

O wild and loose to my soul -- O wondrous singer!

You only I hear -- yet the star holds me, (but will soon depart,)

Yet the lilac with mastering odor holds me.

14

Now while I sat in the day and look'd forth,

In the close of the day with its light and the fields of spring, and the farmers preparing their crops,

In the large unconscious scenery of my land with its lakes and forests,

In the heavenly aerial beauty, (after the perturb'd winds and storms,)

Under the arching heavens of the afternoon swift passing, and the voices of children and women,

The many-moving sea-tides, and I saw the ships how they sail'd,

And the summer approaching with richness, and the fields all busy with labor,

And the infinite separate houses, how they all went on, each with its meals and minutia of daily usages,

And the streets how their throbbings throbb'd, and the cities pent -- lo, then and there,

Falling upon them all and among them all, enveloping me with the rest,

Appear'd the cloud, appear'd the long black trail,

And I knew death, its thought, and the sacred knowledge of death.

Then with the knowledge of death as walking one side of me,

And the thought of death close-walking the other side of me,

And I in the middle as with companions, and as holding the hands of companions,

I fled forth to the hiding receiving night that talks not,

Down to the shores of the water, the path by the swamp in the dimness,

To the solemn shadowy cedars and the ghostly pines so still.

And the singer so shy to the rest receiv'd me,

The gray-brown bird I know received us comrades three,

And he sang the carol of death, and a verse for him I love.

%26gt;From deep secluded recesses,

%26gt;From the fragrant cedars and the ghostly pines so still,

Came the carol of the bird.

And the charm of the carol rapt me,

As I held as if by their hands my comrades in the night,

And the voice of my spirit tallied the song of the bird.

Come lovely and soothing death,

Undulate round the world, serenely arriving, arriving,

In the day, in the night, to all, to each,

Sooner or later delicate death.

Prais'd be the fathomless universe,

For life and joy, and for objects and knowledge curious,

And for love, sweet love -- but praise! praise! praise!

For the sure-enwinding arms of cool-enfolding death.

Dark mother always gliding near with soft feet,

Have none chanted for thee a chant of fullest welcome?

Then I chant it for thee, I glorify thee above all,

I bring thee a song that when thou must indeed come, come unfalteringly.

Approach strong deliveress,

When it is so, when you have taken them I joyously sing the dead,

Lost in the loving floating ocean of thee,

Laved in the flood of thy bliss, O death.

From me to thee glad serenades,

Dances for thee I propose saluting thee, adornments and feastings for thee,

And the sights of the open landscape and the high-spread sky are fitting,

And life and the fields, and the huge and thoughtful night.

The night in silence under many a star,

The ocean shore and the husky whispering wave whose voice I know,

And the soul turning to thee O vast and well-veil'd death,

And the body gratefully nestling close to thee.

Over the treetops I float thee a song,

Over the rising and sinking waves, over the myriad fields and the prairies wide,

Over the dense-packed cities and all the teeming wharves and ways,

I float this carol with joy, with joy to thee O death.

15

To the tally of my soul,

Loud and strong kept up the gray-brown bird,

With pure deliberate notes spreading filling the night.

Loud in the pines and cedars dim,

Clear in the freshness moist and the swamp-perfume,

And I with my comrades there in the night.

While my sight that was bound in my eyes unclosed,

As to long panoramas of visions.

And I saw askant the armies,

I saw as in noiseless dreams hundreds of battle-flags,

Borne through the smoke of the battles and pierced with missiles I saw them,

And carried hither and yon through the smoke and torn and bloody,

And at last but a few shreds left on the staffs, (all in silence,)

And the staffs all splinter'd and broken.

I saw battle-corpses, myriads of them,

And the white skeletons of young men, I saw them,

I saw the debris and debris of all the dead soldiers of the war,

But I saw they were not as was thought,

They themselves were fully at rest, they suffer'd not,

The living remain'd and suffer'd, the mother suffer'd,

And the wife and the child and the musing comrade suffer'd,

And the armies that remain'd suffer'd.

16

Passing the visions, passing the night,

Passing, unloosing the hold of my comrades' hands,

Passing the song of the hermit bird and the tallying song of my soul,

Victorious song, death's outlet song, yet varying ever-altering song,

As low and wailing, yet clear the notes, rising and falling, flooding the night,

Sadly sinking and fainting, as warning and warning, and yet again bursting with joy,

Covering the earth and filling the spread of the heaven,

As that powerful psalm in the night I heard from recesses,

Passing, I leave thee lilac with heart-shaped leaves,

I leave thee there in the door-yard, blooming, returning with spring.

I cease from my song for thee,

From my gaze on thee in the west, fronting the west, communing with thee,

O comrade lustrous with silver face in the night.

Yet each to keep and all, retrievements out of the night,

The song, the wondrous chant of the gray-brown bird,

And the tallying chant, the echo arous'd in my soul,

With the lustrous and drooping star with the countenance full of woe,

With the holders holding my hand nearing the call of the bird,

Comrades mine and I in the midst, and their memory ever to keep for the dead I loved so well,

For the sweetest, wisest soul of all my days and lands -- and this for his dear sake,

Lilac and star and bird twined with the chant of my soul,

There in the fragrant pines and the cedars dusk and dim.

How do I get rid of a yucca plant that is........?

growing right in the middle of my lilac bush?? I've tried digging it up and using a hatchet to chop it out. I only made it angry and it grew back in about 5 different places. I want it gone permanently but without ruining my lilac bush at the same time.

How do I get rid of a yucca plant that is........?
Lol. Yeah, yucca is a hard plant to get rid of. I wish I could help, but I have trouble with those plants, too. But on the bright side, you can always make paintbrushed out of them.

Here is one site I found. I hope it helps a bit

http://forums2.gardenweb.com/forums/load...
Reply:Use undiluted RoundUp on the yucca. Carefuly paint it on a few of the leaves being sure not to get it on your lilac. Otherwise you'll have to dig the long tap roots out - lots of work that might injure the lilac.
Reply:You local garden center might be willing to dig it out for free if you will give it to them.

Looking for paint color ideas for a princess theme bedroom!?

I want to paint my daughter's room pink three quarter's of the room with a molding seperating the quarter of the lilac on top. I need to now if anyone has done this and if you could tell me which paint and what the color codes where. I have a week to do this because the furniture is coming in then! I really need help not with themes but with paint colors pinks and lilac's codes that look good together.

Looking for paint color ideas for a princess theme bedroom!?
Not sure what intensity you're looking for, but here are some suggestions from Sherwin Williams. I prefer their color visualizer to any other website b/c they include coordinating colors at the bottom:

"reverie pink" with "mythical"

or

"zany pink" with "ash violet"
Reply:You need to get her bedding and match it to that . Two notes, use low sheen so you can clean it-use paints that are the same value-ie;dark/lightness as each other. DONT get too dark-let her accesorries be bright but do soft pastels of the colors on the walls so they don't attack you! Have you considered walpaper stones on bottom half and sky above-like a castle? HAVE FUN.
Reply:Not done it. Sounds good.

Best to go to Home Depot or similar and consult with a specialist, once.

See sites.

Bridesmaid dresses? Who should choose?

Ok, I stil haven't decided on colors yet. But when the time comes to get bridesmaids dresses, how do I go about making everyone feel comfortable in what they are wearing? Should I tell them, 'these are the colors, choose a dress' or should I give them a few different styles in the color I want or should I let them choose the dress and let them decide what color to wear.

Matching the wedding of course! Like my matron of honor wear one color and the bridesmaids alternate in color, cause I know I am going with at least 2 colors. It could go like this: light blue, lilac, light blue, lilac? One of my bridesmaid is a little on the heavy side and I don't want her to be uncomfortable in what everyone else will be wearing. Any advice is welcome! Thanks!!

Bridesmaid dresses? Who should choose?
For my wedding, since my bridal party was all different sizes, I gave them the color swatch and went with them to pick out their dresses. I let them choose the dress of their liking to their body types and it looked great.

A good friend of mine did the same thing with her bridal party since they girls were all different ages (12 - 40) and each girl/woman chose a dress appropriate to their age and body type.

If you feel that you want them to be comfortable with a dress choice, good for you! I completely encourage it.
Reply:I trusted my bridesmaid enough to choose the dress they thought would best match our styles.

I didnt even see the dress's until they were paid for. Dresse's were fantastic but needed to take them for minor alterations.

Your bridesmaids are your bridesmaids for a special reason! Report It

Reply:I am going to let my bridesmaids pick out their dresses in the color or colors that I chose for my wedding. I do have a wide range of sizes in the bridesmaids that I have chosen and like you do not want them to feel uncomfortable. Make sure to give them specifications, like it must me floor length, etc.

To answer you question as the "full figured" girl that I am, I would like to tell you that YES definately do the pick your own dress thing because I am currently battling with having to wear a little skimpy bridesmaid dress on June 16th and honestly I am absolutely mortified. The dress is very revealing, the back comes down to about 2 inces above my bottom end. It would look great if I weighed 115 pounds like the bride, but I don't anymore. So if it is just for your "heavy" friend, let them choose. Good luck!!!
Reply:I didn't want to make any of my BMs feel uncomfortable, but I had a certain look in mind for the wedding, so I wasn't comfortable sending them out with a color and telling them to get their own dress. I don't think they would have felt comfortable with that either - that's a lot of pressure to put on someone, especially one who is uncomfortable with shopping. Naturally, the girls are going to want to at least coordinate so one doesn't show up in a cotton sundress and another one show up in a ballgown.

A good compromise for me was letting them pick their own mix and match separates from Davids in a color I specified. They got to pick what flattered them, and the dresses looked similar enough that the bridal party looked like it belonged together. I'm not a big fan of BMs dressed in random dresses - to me it looks even more awkward than BMs dressed in cookie cutter dresses.

The girls like the guidelines - they all ended up picking the same skirt and between the four of them, three different tops (the maid and matron of honor picked the same top without knowing it). The heavier girls were pleased that they weren't wearing a dress designed for a skinny girl, and my petite flatchested cousin didn't feel awkward trying to fit into a dress more appropriate for a bustier woman.
Reply:I think it's best just for all of you to go window shopping just to get some ideas. Another idea is to choose a colour and have them choose the style which suits them best.
Reply:pick your color or colors and then go with them to pick the dresses they like and fit there body type..
Reply:my sister picked out a skirt for eveyone and we got to pick out what style top we wanted, but they were all the same color
Reply:Separates are always a good idea. Pick a nice a-line skirt and then let them pick their own top. You get to pick the color.
Reply:Go to Davids Bridals website. You can "dress your wedding party" there and see how the colors will look together, etc. There are also gowns with several different style tops/skirts in the same color line. Maybe you could choose the color and let the bridesmaids choose the style gown that suits their body best. Good luck and congratulations!
Reply:I was just MOH for my cousin and she considered all the options you mentioned because 2 of us were heavier, 2 were skinny, then 2 were teens, while the others were older...I'm also very top-heavy and couldn't wear anything strapless or halter...ultimately, she picked a dress she liked, and the colors (of course), then we all went to try it on and overruled her and got a dress everyone could wear and feel good in! You have to do what works for you, but remember, these women are in your bridal party because you love them and want them to feel proud of themselves, too!
Reply:I definitely think letting them choose their own dress style is a wise idea, that is what I am letting mine do because they range in size from 2-20. If you want to use two different colors, either assign them a color, or let them draw out of a hat so you don't have bickering over who gets to wear what color. I think it's great that you are thoughtful enough to consider their comfort.
Reply:I am letting my bridesmaids pick their own dresses, but i am picking the colors. This way they get something that they love, and it will remind them of my wedding date. I am getting them matching accessories and a small bouquet that are exactly a like. so these things will tie my wedding party together.
Reply:I told my bridesmaid's the color of their dresses and let them decide between different dresses. You don't want any of them feeling uncomfortable in what they are wearing. I have a sister that is very well endowed and another one that doesn't have much going on up top but she has a big butt (which she loves) and I want them to feel good in what they are wearing down the isle.
Reply:i am going to do the same thing as Scarlett. i will give them all the color swatch, and they can pick for themselves.
Reply:The bride chooses the colors to go with the wedding's color scheme. A lot of brides have certain styles in mind and want complete control over everything, but if you prefer you can let them know what color(s) you have in mind and let them choose the styles. Thats what i did, and everyone chose dresses they were comfortable in and happy with.
Reply:You should pick a few designs you like in the colors you like and then have them look at the same sites and pick a few designs they like in the colors you choose and then compare. I like the idea of different colored gowns. My colors are lilac and yellow and I'm only have my sis as MOH and niece as a bridesmaid so one will wear lilac and the other yellow. And I found the most beautiful flower girl dress that is exactly the color I wanted. This is an excellent site with hundreds of designs and colors at very affordable prices. Hope it helps and congrats. http://www.justthebeginnings.com
Reply:The easy answer? It's your big day. They are your friends/family. They will get over what ever you pick. You need to be happy on your wedding and not stressed out that nobody wants the same kind of dress.
Reply:I guess this would partially depend on who is paying for the dresses. For my wedding I had varying sizes of gals but I wanted them all to wear matching gowns, so I picked a style that flattered all of them and I rented the dresses and I paid, since I knew some of them did not have the money to buy dresses they would never wear again. In that case I felt I had the right to choose the dresses as long as no one looked bad. If they are paying though I think you would have to let them have at least some say in choosing something that will look good on them.
Reply:I like weddings where you can tell the bridesmaid got to pick out the design that she was most comfortable in. I think that is what I will do with my wedding. Because everyone is built differently, everyone will look different (either good or bad) in the bridesmaid dress. So, since the girls will be paying for their dresses (as is traditional) why not let them pick it out? Unless you are paying for them, which you get to decide:O)
Reply:You should take your bridesmaids shopping with you and let them pick out dresses they like. Then you can agree on a style that everyone likes.
Reply:he best thing for you to do is to meet with all of the bridesmaids and describe your ideas to them and ask them how they feel. If they have any ideas themselves take note of them and come to a compromise. Another idea would be to take them to the shop where you may buy these dresses and get them to try on a variety of dresses and to see which makes them feel most comfortable. You could always just pick a colour scheme and tell them to pick which dress they are most comfortable in - they don't all have to wear the same style dress. The important thing is to make sure that everybody is happy with the final decision, yourself included.

Best of luck for the wedding.
Reply:Well I would pick out the color since its my wedding but as for the style of the dresses let them choose there own style because not every body looks good in the same style. ya dig. that's what I'm doing at my wedding.
Reply:I have all different sizes in my wedding party too.

size 2, size 8 and size 20.

I told them what color I wanted and told them to choose dresses in that color. Would you know the first time we went they all chose the same dress! I lucked out.

Your question

I would go for a fun color for your toes. The rainbow top coat sounds awesome so put that on top of the pearl pink or light blue or purple. That would look so cool . And do your nails the same. Where did you get the rainbow top coat? i want to buy some!
Reply:All depends.

Draw attention to yourself and your feet, pick a brighter more magnetic color (like a red)

If you are trying to hide them or just have them blend in, go with a lighter color to match the skin.

Same with the hands, if you want the attention their, make the color pop.

As for the rude comment about guys, I think that is just plain dumb. What if one of them had a really good suggestion? Guess it doesn't matter since "All men are dumb pigs", right?
Reply:Light green with sparkles and french tips the color of white!

or

Light purple with light blue tips

or

Hot pink tips with a light green main color

-SHINY "ice" light blue

with a little flower (you can make them if you have a steady hand and thin brushes)

-SHIMMERY light purple

....or....

-SHIMMERY "pink petal" pink (looks like "sheer lilac", only shimmery)

with a stripe down the middle of

-SHIMMERY light, LIGHT blue

your nails are gonna be so cute!
Reply:If you're olive skinned, don't go with pink. It looks weird on us. No pastels either, they don't work with the skin tone quite right. Try the primary colors and metallics instead, such as copper, bronze, gold, red, blue and such. None of those colors really sound right if your skin's like your avatar.
Reply:well just for your information you are trying to look Good ins't? well a girl would give u her opinion in what she only feels is good for you what's "CUTE" and I don't think in what's HOT or NO HOT

Please advise some Guys we have better style than the girls,..
Reply:well SHINY "ice" light blue for the toes and -SHIMMERY "pink pearl" light LIGHT pink for the fingers and all depends on your outfits and sandals for your toes. But thats what I would choose.
Reply:CHROME "cool orchid" light purple

just cuz this sounds cool and stylish!

have fun!
Reply:I say the SOLID "sheer lilac" if you're tan, or SHINY "pink wink" if you are lighter. If you are African-American, leave your toes plain.
Reply:IF YOU HAVE BIGGISH WIDE FEET I RECOMMEND THE DARKEST COLOUR YOU HAVE. OTHERWISE SOMETHING LIGHT, PINK MAYBE, BECAUSE ITS VERY CUTE, PEOPLE TAKE MORE NOTICE COS ITS SO CUTSIE, AND THE MORE NATURAL THE LOOK, THE EASIER IT IS TO PULL OFF WITH ANY OUTFIT
Reply:okay for the main color i would use shimmery "pink pearl" light LIGHT pink let it dry completely then use an eyeliner brush and dip it into the shimmery hot hot pink and make one dot in the center of your big toenail then rinse and dry the eyeliner brush off and dip it into the shimmery mirror purple silveryish and paint 4 flower petals around the dot to make it look like a flower. do the flower on both of your big toenails then once all of your toenails are dry put on two layers of clear top coat to seal in the color. hope this helps. good luck and have fun! i just painted french tips on my fingers. with two red flowers on both of my thumbs. :) hope this helps!
Reply:Hmm...I'm thinking the "Cool Orchid" as a solid background polish, then a simple stripe of the "Ice" light blue down the center with the rainbow top coat. Remember to use base coat though!
Reply:SHIMMERY "pink pearl" light LIGHT pink

or if u want to bring attention to them: SHIMMERY hot HOT pink
Reply:I would go for the -SHINY "ice" light blue! Based on the fact that blue is my favorite color. If you are really bored you could paint each one a different color.
Reply:red looks great on anyone
Reply:I think the SHINY "pink wink" hot pink with a base coat on bottom and clear top and if you want it sparkly put the glitter on before the top coat! I think that will be really cute
Reply:start with base coat

than use

--SHIMMERY " Mirror" purple- silvery (ish)

and than a clear top coat.

The metallic look is really in!
Reply:shimmery dark purple would be cute
Reply:if i were u i would paint them shimmery light blue and then use a pencil to paint on lilac flowers with a lighter center
Reply:base coat and top coat is a must 4 ur nail and nail polish protection. go with hot pink either shiny pink wink or shimery hot pink coz this summer its about the bold and beautiful.
Reply:i would say clear top coat because that's always a classic look. i also suggest a pale yellow because that color is in for this season

I want to redo my room?

My bedroom is lilac with a lilac/gray carpet. I would like to do my room with a french, victorian , chanel vibe. IN white, black, pinkandpurple. My funiture is white. Ideas and links would be appriciated to help me redo my room if your have more questions please feel free to email me or i.m. me at Woodchip127@aol.com thank you for your creative imput.

I want to redo my room?
i think to give it the elegant vibe your looking for, you need to incorporate some metalic accent into the room. silver, platinum, pewter, brushed aluminum, all look great with purple and lilac and white.

candelabra style lamps, vases, brush and comb set handles, perfume bottle lids, mirrored tray feet....all these can be done in metallics. also a satiny silver/gray metalic-sheened fabric for upholstery, bedding, and window treatments would look great. have you considered getting a vanity with large round mirror? you could cover it with a gray satin dropcloth, and upholster a stool for it in the same material.

black framed black and white fashion magazine photos from the 40's and 50's would work well on the walls.

a white or pale grey shag carpet would be cool on the floor.

you could also paint gray vertical stripes on the lilac walls.

a few cushions of various shapes and sizes covered in a rich dark eggplant (aubergine) cover would really add a punch of bold color to a pale silvery lilac bedspread.
Reply:If you have white furniture it would go best with something more colorful like pink, purple,or a vibrant but light lime green. i hope that helps.
Reply:Room decoration can be done by various ways...You can use wall hangings , wall decorating accessories etc. Here are some awesome varieties.-

Where can i find an inexpensive prom dress that still stands out?

Im a freshman going to prom and it's coming up in May. I'm looking for a floor length dress that is lilac/purple. My price range is anything up to about 160 dollars. Also any ideas for a hairstyle would be great.

** other colored dresses are okay.. i just really want a lilac one.

Where can i find an inexpensive prom dress that still stands out?
You could try Nordstrom, Macys, or any other department stores. Hairstyles really depend on the dress you're wearing but heres a good website with many options. If you look to the left of the website you'll see where it says prom hairstyles and under that is some more options for you to click on.

hope that helped!

Groomsmen?

Would it look odd if our groomsmen had alternating vest colors....2 wearing a lilac color and 2 wearing a silver or platnuim? Im kinda doing this with my bridesmaids..2 in lilac and 2 in silver/platnuim(with the opposite color sash)

Groomsmen?
it would look awesome, you could even put a lilac girl with a silver guy and the other way around it would look so nice!
Reply:I like that idea.
Reply:I think it'd look great.

You might have to do a coin toss to see which dudes are wearing the purple though.

:P
Reply:I don't see a problem with the idea, provided that the bridesmaids and their respective groomsmen escorting them down the aisle are all color-coordinated with one another. I have always loved lavender, by the way.
Reply:that would be cool i am doing the same thing with my wedding just the colors are red and royal blue
Reply:that's an awesome idea, that will look great!

I like the Platinum VERY much..I would go with that

elegant.

MOH Dress!!?

My maid of honor had a fit about the dress that I and my other brides maids picked out. After talking with her about it, she wants to wear a different dress. My bridesmaids and I pick the dress because they both loved them and we thought they went if my dress perfectly. Do you thinks this dress will work with the other two.

My dress--- http://www.davidsbridal.com/bridal_gowns...

Brides maid dress- http://www.davidsbridal.com/bridesmaids_...

(in Lilac)

And this is the dress my MOH wants

http://www.davidsbridal.com/bridesmaids_...

(in Lilac)

I think it is to casual to match the others...Any advice

MOH Dress!!?
I personally like the dress you MOH picked out better than the other dress. If she is the MOH, why can't she wear a different dress than the other bridesmaids, it will make her stand out and she would probably feel more comfortable if she got to wear something she likes.
Reply:I think it will be fine. And it sets the maid of honor apart, which kind of honors her...
Reply:I think that they are too different. Maybe they could go with something like this http://www.davidsbridal.com/bridesmaids_...

or like this http://www.davidsbridal.com/bridesmaids_...

Maybe your MOH does feel comfortable with form fitting dresses?
Reply:All I can say about the MOH dress is ick!! To me it looks like a winter formal dress, or a club dress. Maybe as a guest it would be fine, but not as the MOH. Why didn't she do with you to pick out dresses? I would suggest to her to find something in a similar fabric and shape as the brides maids dresses.
Reply:style is fine

hope colors coordinate?
Reply:Actually the MoH dress is more formal than the bridesmaids dresses. The Maid of Honor's dress is generally different from the bridesmaid's dresses in some way. If they are all the same color they would look well together but it is your wedding and she should wear what you decided upon.
Reply:That dress only come in Victorian Lilac, so they will be a little darker than the other dresses. Here is another suggestion, http://www.davidsbridal.com/bridesmaids_... it matches pretty well and that style wold look good on a bigger girl. You're maid of honor shouldn't be acting like this towards you. It is your special day and you should be able to do what you want. Tell her that if she doesn't want to wear the dress that you pick out, she can forget about being the maid of honor.
Reply:i dont like the fist one.. it doesnt go well with your dress.. i do like the second one though
Reply:tell her to wear the dress you picked out or dont be in the wedding
Reply:I don't think different styles is a problem - I think as long as the colours are the same you shouldn't have a problem. However - that dress would not suit anyone who was not pencil thin!!! Maybe you need to keep looking in more shops. No problem having different dresses - but you do want to make sure they look good! (And don't stress too much - they are only in some of the photos - the rest are just of you and your man so you don't need to worry!!!)
Reply:you tell her she is welcome to buy any dress she wants however ever the dress on your wedding day is xxx ( the one you want) she can wear that other dress on a date. Who cares , you pick out the dress enough said.
Reply:Still working on this problem, huh? Sorry to hear that!

But on the up side, the MOH can absolutely have a different dress than the bm's (my cousin pitched a fit also, but that was because of the color, so they gave her the same dress in a different color and had the bm's flowers all match that way). However, I don't think that dress would work too well. Maybe try something that is in the same fabric as the bm's dresses. That way even if it is a different dress, it isn't completely off the mark.

Not part of the question, but I just wanted to let you know that I love your dress. You will look beautiful anyways! :)

Best of luck to you!
Reply:Bottom line, you are the bride. Let her know that is the dress you picked out and the one she picked does not look good on her. I sell bridal attire and I tell you that is the one "biggest" problem that I run into. It is either brides picking out dresses that lookk good on their size 2 maid, but horrible on the larger ones or even worse. A girl that is a size 18 trying to wear this little dress and looking horrible in it, thinking she looks good. I myself am a bigger girl and I am well aware that there are a lot of dresses that simply cannot be worn by a larger girl. I am not in denial, but my god some people are. Simply let her know that the dress you picked is the dress that you are going with, if she argues...get curt with her and tell her in her wedding she can do whatever she wants, but this is yours and this is the dress. Period. If she still argues then maybe she is not understanding the importance of your wedding to you. Good luck. Stand your ground, remember this is your wedding and you will be looking at these pics forever!
Reply:I think it's up to you, and it's a bit late for her to do this. It's when we bend over for everyone that the bridezilla rears her ugly head.

Besides that, I like them both but not together. Maybe she can wear the same as the others in a different colour. That's what I am doing for my MOH

At the end of the day though there are no real rules anymore so whatever works out for the best!
Reply:I like the MOH dress, and I don't think it is too casual. But, I do agree that it does not really coordinate with the other bridesmaid dress. If you really don't like the dress your MOH wants, then I think you can play the "I'm the bride" card, and help her find another dress. Or, put her in the same dress as the other girls, and distinguish her by adding a wrap or different color bouquet flowers.
Reply:It's obviously just my opinion, I think it doesn't look quite right to have two different materials and different hemlines. I just don't like the way it looks. I think its fine for her to have a different dress, just with same fabric and hemline/length.

Here's an idea: Instead of just looking at the tea length dress, why not look at the longer dresses. Longer dresses can always be shortened and are generally similar in price.

Here are an example of a David's dress that is similar to the chiffon dress, but in satin that can be shortened:

http://www.davidsbridal.com/bridesmaids_...

Good Luck!
Reply:I don't think it goes at all. She can have something with a similar cut than the others, just a different style top to set her apart.

Don't forget: unless it's a daytime wedding, the dresses should be floor length.
Reply:It's your wedding, and she should wear what you want her to wear; in return, you won't complain about what she puts you in for her wedding (assuming she returns the favor, which I hope she would). When I was trying on dresses for my MOH's wedding years ago, I made my opinions clear BUT I was still going with what she wanted with no complaint.

To be fair, I originally wanted my bridesmaids in red. But my naturally red-headed maid of honor didn't want to look like a red pole so after some thought and discussion, I changed the color to black (I'm getting married in October). And I made sure all my bridesmaids would look good in the same style regardless of body type.

The dress your MOH picked is pretty - but it clashes with the style of your dress. If I had picked a dress with your type of skirt, I naturally would have picked out a dress like you did for your bridemaids so even though they don't exactly coordinate, they do flow well to the eye between each other.

And I don't think you're going Bridezilla on her. It's your wedding, and you're the one who has to look at your wedding pictures forever. If she won't drop it, I'd find a new MOH. If she's really your friend she won't fight you on it.
Reply:I persoanlly like the dress the MOH picked better. it's more dramatic and you want the MOH to stand out somewhat. Honestly I think she can pull off the look depending on what her problem areas are. Let her do this. it will make her more comfortable, and you won't have to deal with her complaining about a dress she hates.
Reply:Maybe she could pick a completely different dress in the same colour?

I agree with you about that dress not really suiting her body type. Maybe you could tell her you would like the dress to be in lilac and for it to be either a halter or V-neck style (which would suit her body type the best). That way, she still gets to have input into what she wears but the dress will look better on her and fit with the other BM's dresses better.

It's important that you are happy with the dress she picks as well- after all it is your wedding.
