I was wondering if they get their color points from their parents.. Is it possible that the parents are both chocolate points and the kitten is a lilac point. no one in their family tree had a lilac point. Or is it some sort of mutation?
*Siamese Cats* Color points?
seal point, chocolate point, blue point and lilac point are the four orginal colours that the siamese were bred in.
So perhaps somewhere in the cats past there is a lilac and its a recessive gene
Reply:bit of a muddled question there ..
not sure what you mean..
you have two chocolate points and they have produced a lilac point kitten..????
lilac is recessive dilute.. not a very likely turn out from two chocolate points as the chocolate would be dominant..now if the Lilac turns darker / blue..
please
I really need more info for this one

The chocolate points have the gene for diluted. If both parents were heterozygous for colour (Bb x Bb), then two bb together give the blue colour. The dilution is on a seperate gene, and since they are chocolate and not seal, they already are dd for this gene, so yes....one would expect 25% of their offspring to be lilac.
