What is the title of this book?

I believe it was written before 1984 and is attributed as an inspiration for most utopian-society books. A presentation was given on it in my class, but I can't remember its title.

It takes place in the future where everyone and thing is perfect. Everyone looks the same, wears similar green coveralls, and has a bracelet on their arm which identifies them. Names are chosen by a computer.

The main character is a boy who calls himself Chip after his grandfather. He has a brown and green eye.

Everyone is given treatments, but Chip stops his and so he begins to feel "different". He grows up and falls in love with a girl who he names Lilac because she smells of lilacs (even though everyone is meant to smell the same).

What is the title of this book?
You're talking about two different books. The plot you describe is from Ira Levin's This Perfect Day (published in 1970, I think), but the book published before Orwell's 1984 is probably Zamyatin's We, published in 1921.
