Wedding dress advice please?

hi i have bought a lilac chiffon dress which although is really nice i am not sure it is suitable for me getting married in. i had wanted something cream but cant find anything suitable.

What do you think about a bride wearing lilac, it has a wee matching shawl and i was going to get silver sandals etc

Wedding dress advice please?
it sounds beautiful...

if you have your heart set on cream and yet love the lilac dress, you could take the lilac dress to a dress maker and ask them to duplicate but in your chosen material?

thats what i'm doing for my dress. the dress i fell in love with was all black! lol
Reply:IT IS YOUR CHOICE ON WHAT YOU WANT TO WEAR.

DO NOT LET ANYONE TELL YOU ANY DIFFERENT.

IF YOU ARE COMFORTABLE WITH THAT DRESS THEN

SO BE IT. AND I FOR ONE THINK LILAC IS A BEAUTIFUL

COLOR. MANY WISHES TO THE BOTH OF YOU AND

MUCH HAPPINESS TO YOU BOTH....
Reply:if you love it, go for it. i am sure you will look stunning.
Reply:Wear whatever you want to, be it jeans, skirt or dress.
Reply:It deppends what type u like. Oh and dont get a very uncomfertable dress cuz u have to saty in it for awhile so i would get a comfy one........
Reply:no, no, no and yet again no. it's going to be the most important day in your life, don't 'make do' with anything. keep looking for what you really want, you'll look back with regret if you don't. i look at my wedding photos and i wish i'd carried on looking until i found what i really wanted, instead of marrying that fat fooking b'stard.
Reply:It's your wedding. It is important that you wear something that you like and feel comfortable and happy in.

If the lilac dress meets all of the above, then wear it.

It doesn't matter that it is not cream or white. Who said you had to wear cream or white? Lots of people don't!
Reply:I think it will be pretty. It is your day you should wear what you want to wear. Congrats
Reply:what matters is you. if you want to wear lilac, then do so! people wear all sorts these days from pure white dresses to star trek outfits!! dont forget its your day and no matter what u wear, you will be the star of the show!
Reply:The bride can wear what she wants. If you love the dress that's all that matters. It doesn't matter what colour you get married in, its just important that you are comfortable with what you are wearing. I think it sounds lovely. I hope you have a great day and I am sure you will look lovely!!
Reply:You should wear whatever makes you feel beautiful. Suitable is wheatever you think it is. good luck
Reply:It's perfectly suitable to wear a colour, before Queen Victoria made it fashionable to wear white brides used to wear their best dress to their wedding, regardless of colour. I like the fact that people are now showing they can think for themselves now and wear a dress that they love, rather than being bound to old style traditions if they don't want to follow them. If you are in the UK check out www.monsoon.co.uk they have some really pretty cream dresses in their bridal section.
Reply:Hmm, if I be honest you would probably look like more of a bridesmaid. Im getting married too and could'nt imagine wearing anything other than white/ivory. I agree with the girl up top that says take it to a dressmaker if you've got your heart set on the style.
Reply:Why are you asking if it's suitable ? That sounds as if you are more worried about what other people think than how you look and feel in it. Unless it's a dress that shows way too much flesh, I don't think suitability is an issue. I'm sure you will look beautiful in lilac and silver. Have a great day.
Reply:I think you would be beautiful. If it makes you happy then that is all that matters.
Reply:why not, i plan to marry in burgundy, it doesnt matter what colour ou wear, if i really wanted to i would marry in jeans and t-shirt, its the day that counts, surely
Reply:Only wear something you are totally 100% happy with! its yr wedding so if you want to wear liac go for it. but if u have had your heart set on ivory/White id stick with it,incase you have any regrets. the dress wont have to go to waste either why dont u book tickets to a ball! i did this with a fab dress i bought from china it was supposed to be a wedding dress but was a light pink. me and my partner bought tickets to the bristol mayors ball and felt fab!
Reply:its your wedding you wear what you like xx
Reply:Hi!I think the lilac and silver sounds lovely :-) are you looking for cream because you feel you should be?if you fancy something simple, why not try Debut @ Debenhams? They have some stunning dresses at really reasonable prices. My advice is try a million dresses if you need to-it's your day,and the one time you want everything to be just perfect!!Have a fab day!!
Reply:Hi there,

I am currently engaged and this will be my 2nd wedding. I want a pink wedding gown and I am not going to stop until I get one...lol

You must remember that this is your day and you need to be happy with all choices made.

Have you looked at any of your local bridal shops? Sometimes they have dresses on the rack that are discounted. Maybe you can find something there if you are not happy with the lilac dress.

Reply:Lilac is beautiful. You don't have to wear white, not many women look good in it anyway.

You'll look lovely.
Reply:It is your wedding and you can wear whatever you want! The dress sounds pretty, so go for it. Just make sure that your bridesmaids (if you are having any) wear a color that complements the lilac, but still lets you stand out as the bride. Good luck!
Reply:if it is an informal, casual wedding - you can wear any color you wish:) For more formal wedding, you may want to consider a different dress.
Reply:lilac is different but nice. i wanted a pink dress but when i tried it on it wasnt the dress so ended up gettin a white dress which showed off my tan as we got married in mexico. if u stick with the dress let people no so they dont wear the same colour as u on ur big day
Reply:you could still keep the lilac dress as an outline idea, go to ad ress maker with a few pictures and try and create sumtin of your own maybe including the cream - which i think is beautiful, always tot id want that for my wedding too, if u cnt incorporate id just advice u to go with sumtin u rly want .. dnt make do
