When is the best time to plant Lilacs in Michigan?

I know they're in bloom now. I'm wondering for future years.

When is the best time to plant Lilacs in Michigan?
I live in Michigan also. You can still plant now. Or wait until fall. You don't want to plant a tree in the hot summer or after the first frost. You still have time, but I wouldn't wait much longer. Do it this month or don't do it until Sept. Remember whenever you plant it you have to water it just about every day. The amount of water depends on the type of Lilac and where you live. But they can tell you that when you purchase it.

I do think most pros will tell you the best time to plant is early fall. That way the plant has a good start before the really bad starts and it's settled and ready to take off growing in the spring.
Reply:You can plant them now. I have three we picked up three years ago in full bloom. Check out the dwarf's. Ours are doing great.
Reply:my guess would be one of the four days when the ground isnt totally FROZEN!!!! I grew up in Northern Minnesota. Now live in Texas. Dont miss the cold north AT ALL :)
Reply:Probably late may to early June.
