Unknown plant/flower in my backyard?

I ran across a medium/small plant with lilac colored flowers, and quite sweet smelling (no, not a lilac bush!) It's about two feet tall right now, and the blooms are about 3/4"-1" in diameter, with four petals per bloom. I'd post a link to a picture, but if I could find a picture, I'd already know what it was called, right? ;)

Any insight or suggestions to look up would be much appreciated!

Phlox should have 5 petals. I'd say you have a plant called Dame's rocket or Dame's violet (Hesperis matronalis): http://plants.usda.gov/java/profile?symb...

The flowers can vary between white, pink, and purple, and I've seen an orange variant for sale.

NOYE: I just checked the link in the other answer - the photos in the first two rows that are labelled as phlox appear to be dame's rocket rather than phlox which is shown in the bottom rows. Note the change in the number of petals.
Reply:Is ti growing wild?

Are you in the US? or where?

I will take a wild guess that, if both are true, it could be Flox.

Try checking that one out.
