Question about tie dying.?

Does anyone know how to tie dye. If so, I have a ton of lilac cotton t-shirts. Can you tie dye on colors? Would lilac be a good color? What would be the best colors of dye to use on lilac? Any other ideas of what to do with these 300 shirts?

Question about tie dying.?
Hi! Perhaps you may want to use this as an educational experience for younger people who know nothing about tie-dying like us baby boomers.

I remember when I got my first T-shirt, and watched them tie-dye it right in front of me. It was something special that I will always remember.

You could set up with an educational or art institute, or a non-profit charity to have a fund raiser, etc. Each person would pay a set fee to have their shirt tie-dyed, watch it be done, and take the shirt home with them. Perhaps an arts and craft fair would be a good time to do this. I would encourage you to think of your favorite charity for a fund raiser, so that you will come away with a sense of satisfaction knowing that you contributed to the cause.

Since your shirts are lilac, any colors you use must be darker than the lilac, and must stay on the cool side of the color wheel as is lilac. That means you may use blues, purples, cool reds. I would be very careful to use green, unless it were quite dark, as the combination of green and lilac shirts could possibly create a "muddy" color. Test the colors first of all, before doing a huge batch of shirts.

Here are some site with information on tie-dying that will help you:
