Fertilizing lilacs?

Miracle grow

Fertilizing lilacs?
chop up the soil around the base, and mix in coffee grounds.
Reply:Sprinkle with Epson Salts
Reply:I would recommend a fertilizer that has more staying power and is better balanced than Miracle-Gro. In my gardens I use Espoma fertilizers, and I have been very impressed with them. Most garden centers will stock their products, and I have seen them at Home Depot or Lowes. For Lilacs I would use Espoma Tree-Tone or Espoma Plant-Tone.

Regardless of what company you choose, make sure you avoid fertilizers that dramatically acidify the soil (Holly-Tone, Miracid, etc). Lilacs prefer soil that has a slightly basic or neutral pH.

I pasted a link to the Espoma website below.

Enjoy the Lilacs, they are a beautiful plant!
