I%26#039;m in a botany class, We are doing certain leaves. I have a lilac, we were to find where Lilacs are able to grow in the United States. Can anyone help, figure out what states they grow in?
Thank You

Here is a link that will tell you about Lilacs.
Cheers
Reply:I know they grow in New Hampshire...I used to visit relatives up there as a child...loved the lilacs...You could also go to US Dept of Agriculture web site and look up what zones lilacs grow in and then what states are in those zones.
Reply:they%26#039;re in minnesota too
Reply:I%26#039;ve seen lilacs growing in Oregon, fewer in northern California, and somewhere between the two in Washington on the western side of the state. I%26#039;ve heard about them growing LOTS in eastern Washington, but have never seen them. I think what you need to do is check the %26#039;climate%26#039; of each state ... lilacs seem to grow best where there is %26#039;some%26#039; snow, but not a lot (I could be wrong on that, though) in the winter, and it%26#039;s warm to %26#039;lightly hot%26#039; in the summer. They don%26#039;t grow where it doesn%26#039;t snow much unless the weather gets below freezing in the winter, or where there is %26#039;too much%26#039; sun/heat in the summer. Hope this helps.
Reply:THey grow here in PA, I assume the whole North East..
THey grow basically in all states that have semi-cold winters...that%26#039;s what I read.
I found a website that sells a type of Lilac that%26#039;s hardy in zones 4-8 on their map, the link is below so you can see all the states that includes:
