Why don't Lilacs last very long?

on the trees, or in vases? Does anyone know?

Why don%26#039;t Lilacs last very long?
Its very weather dependant. Lilacs stay in flower for a couple weeks if the weather is right. If its very hot and dry maybe only a couple days. It takes the plant alot of energy to bloom so the less energy it spends on blooming the better for it. After all its goal is not making pretty nice smelling flowers for us.
Reply:Where do you live

In NJ they lasted several weeks. It was always weather dependent.
Reply:It%26#039;s a life cycle, if you go and cut them off the tree when they are brown, they will sometimes bloom again.
