For longer life, cut lilacs from the bush just as the flowers begin to open. Dissolving an aspirin in the water in which you plan to place the lilac stems will also help.
After a couple of days, re-cut the stems, removing an inch to two inches. Place them in a fresh vase with fresh water and an aspirin again.
How do you get cut lilacs to last more than 3 days before wilting?
They wilt on the tree too.
Reply:as soon as you can cut the stem at a slight angle then plunge the stem into hot water ..count to 5 then plunge them into iced water strait away
