My dog groomer dye's my Bishon Frise different colours. He has been electric blue, lilac, pink......?

I even had the George X on his back for the world cup. He is going to be orange soon. The dye used is for dogs. Some people think it%26#039;s great to see my dog like this and he does love all the attention. My children love it too. However I do get some nasty comments. What do you think about having him dyed? He is on You Tube - Blue Bichon Frise Hartlepool if you would like to see him.

I love dyed dogs. If you do it properly, and use safe dye, the dogs don%26#039;t mind it at all. In fact, many love the extra attention they get!

Forget about all the people that are like %26quot;OMG, it%26#039;s so cruel and blah blah!%26quot; It%26#039;s not cruel, ok? Beating a dog is cruel, not brushing it and letting it get heavily matted is cruel, tying it up in a yard and not interacting with it is cruel. Dying a dog a color is not cruel.
Reply:To be honest, as long as the dye is 100% safe, and it doesn%26#039;t risk any kind of injury to your dog, it%26#039;s fine.

I do find it a little silly, but I think it%26#039;s better than dressing him up in a skirt, and pushing him around in a stroller.

Again, if it is 100% safe, I see nothing seriously wrong with the novelty. Just remember, he%26#039;s a dog, not an accessory. Just because you CAN change his colors, doesn%26#039;t mean you should.
Reply:Honestly, I think it looks awful. Same with the little doggie outfits people put their pets in. I guess it%26#039;s just one of those things that some people love, and others just aren%26#039;t meant to understand.

HOWEVER, it%26#039;s your dog, and far be it from me to tell you what to do with him, as long as it isn%26#039;t hurting him of course. Dying his fur is harmless vanity, so if that%26#039;s what you like, then by all means go for it. The people who feel the need to get in your face about it are the ones who have a problem, not you. Aside from situations where opinions are specifically being solicited, I don%26#039;t understand why people can%26#039;t just mind their own business and leave others alone.
Reply:I think it%26#039;s cute..Who cares what people think it dose not hurt the dog it washes out I do the same thing for 4th of July special occasions party%26#039;s ect my clients like it and the pet is completely safe some people have nothing better to do then judge others Last July I did a white Poodle red white and blue for the 4th he was so cute..Don%26#039;t let it bother you what others think
Reply:As the owner of an adorable Maltese I can personally say I would never dye my dog any color other than what he is naturally...I just dont see a need. I think he%26#039;s great just the way he is. I saw a pink Maltese on the show %26quot;Groomer has It%26quot; the other day, and to be honest I thought it looked rediculous. However, thats just my opinion. If you like it, and your kids like, and the dog doesn%26#039;t seem to mind, I can find nothing against it (morally), I just wouldn%26#039;t do it to my own dog :)
Reply:Well Paris, since you buy puppies from pet stores that sell dogs from puppy mills why not dye them to. In my own opinion you must have more money then you know what to do with it.

After I have paid groomer 60 bucks to groom my dog I sure don%26#039;t want to pay another 30-40 to have him dyed, but like they said to each his own
Reply:The dye is harmless..

when done right it shows great artistic talent.. esp when using multi colors and patterns..

I have dyed several dogs.. My dogs have always loved it.. they get more attention ( from strangers) as well.. and what dog wouldn%26#039;t love that!?

I dyed my std poodle one year for a fund raiser.. he was a big hit

So I say go for it.. as long as its humane..

we all do things that arent the %26quot;way we came%26quot; so thats a lame excuse... esp when it casues no harm..

If anyone says its cruel, abuse etc.. tell them to spend a day volunteering in an animal shelter..... see how cruel people really are.............
Reply:I think it%26#039;s an unnecessary practice, whether is hurts the dog or not, whether it%26#039;s cute or not. A dog is a dog is a dog....and should be treated like a dog is meant to be treated....as a companion and friend...not a canvas or personal fashion statement.

...but hey....to each his own.
Reply:As long as the dyes used are suitable for use on dogs i see no reason why you can%26#039;t have him dyed any colour you wish :) It%26#039;s a bit of fun, some people like it others don%26#039;t, but there%26#039;s no harm in it.
Reply:I think as long as you are using a pet-safe dye, there is nothing wrong with it. Its no more cruel than giving your dog a bath or a weird hair cut.. It causes him no harm.

expect rude comments.. its different or unusual. I get rude comments in walmart when people seeing me buy dog clothes!
Reply:If it%26#039;s safe, I want some. :)

That sounds like something that turns heads, I can understand why people would say nasty things, but if it doesn%26#039;t hurt the dog, where%26#039;s the harm in it?
Reply:I think it%26#039;s rediculous. What a waste of time and money. The money you spend in haveing a groomer dye your dog could probably feed a shelter dog for a week.
Reply:I%26#039;m not so sure constantly dying dog fur is good for the fur. It%26#039;s very unhealthy for human hair to be constantly dyed. I%26#039;ll get 100 thumbs down for this, but it%26#039;s true.
Reply:As long as the dye is safe for dogs why not. A neighbor here dyed their Great Pyrenees red for Halloween and he went as Clifford the big red dog.
Reply:It%26#039;s not bad at all. I%26#039;ve dyed my schnauzer blue. I don%26#039;t see how anyone could have anything against it. I just checked out your bichon. One word-CUTE!! :)
Reply:If it is safe, I think it is ok. Personally wouldn%26#039;t do it though.
Reply:as long as the dogs health isnt as risk then i dont see what the problem is
Reply:I think it%26#039;s kinda cruel- but that%26#039;s just me.
Reply:If he was meant to be multi-coloured he would have been born that way...
Reply:I think you should go for a nice tie-dyed pattern. :)
