How do you get a starter from a lilac bush?

so that i can replant it(start a new plant)

How do you get a starter from a lilac bush?
Lilac bushes put out suckers, or new growth from the roots. These appear as small stems growing next to the main plant. Suckers can be re-planted, to form new lilacs. This is the easiest way.

Other ways include tip-layering, layering, and rooting a cutting. These are much more difficult, but you can look them up, if you are unsuccessful with the suckers.

Good luck.

  1. So I understand you... the suckers should be dug up and replanted? How much of the original root should I try to take with?
