Choose a sunny spot. Dig a hole deeper and wider than the root ball. Fill it partially with good top soil or planting mix. Put in the lilac and more dirt. Make sure it is not planted any deeper than it was originally. Tamp the soil down so there are no air pockets. Put mulch around the lilac and water it well.
