It%26#039;s not in full bloom like in May but there are quite a few flowers on it right now. I know it has been warmer than usual but we haven%26#039;t seen any really cold weather to trick it into thinking winter went by either.
Maybe I shouldn%26#039;t try to analyze it and just enjoy the pretty flowers.
I%26#039;m in MA - Why is my lilac tree blooming in October?
I have a rhododendrum blooming. It has never been a Fall bloomer. No-one has ever seen one bloom in Fall around here.( Mo. ) We had unbelievable Ice storm in early spring. Our local green house believes that had something to do with it. Also it is middle of October and we are almost 80 degrees today. Should be about 55. Crazy.
Reply:More than likely it thinks fall is spring. The spring and fall weather are very much alike. This actually happens to other plants, trees and shrubs.
How do I know the plant thinks it%26#039;s spring instead of fall...
It told me!
Reply:Our Lilac bush barely bloomed at all this spring, but it is blooming now as well. The weather was kind of crazy here in Illinois this spring. The weather now is just like it is in the spring, the temperature of the soil is just right. I know the same happens with our Roses in the fall also. I think mother nature fools some of the flowering plants at times.
Reply:It%26#039;s odd... I know a Lilac Bush near me, and its also blooming now. I live in Ontario Canada. Sometimes, mother nature can be very weird and decieving.
