Does anyone know of a new type of lilac bush that supposedly blooms all summer long?

you may be thinking of the buddelia or butterfly bush; it has very similar looking flowers; comes in a variety of colors; white, dark purple, reddish purple, blue; etc; they smell really good to %26amp; attract butterflies like crazy; i once had 12 various ones; swallowtails, monarchs, etc on mine here in Oregon. They are drought tolerant, love bad soil, %26amp; you can cut %26amp; prune back hard %26amp; they come back more beautiful than ever. The only one I have never cared for is the yellow which has globe shaped flowers; lots of times folks refer to them as the summer lilacs. Good luck!

No they are spring flowering, if someone is advertising it as blooming longer chances are it is not a lilac.

I have given up on them here in Oregon, as soon I get blooms ready to flower the frost comes along
